Hi all,
As none of you would know, I'm a teacher at a SSP (Special School) that caters for kids with physical disabilities and autism.
Late last year, one of our school buses went for it's rego check and they wanted to see the engineer's report for the removable seating/wheel chair
tie down points that were installed in the bus years ago. Problem is - the report has gone missing from the glovebox. Kids have sticky fingers and it
may have gone walkabouts with one of them. Bad place to keep it, but it seemed logical at the time.
Either way, the RTA(or whatever they are called now) have refused to issue us with a copy of the original certificate for some reason, but are saying
that without it we can't get rego.
So - we are stuck with one bus instead of two and have to cut back on the social skills programs we run for our students. Without the certificate, the
bus is useless and we don't know what to do next - spend big money getting all the mounting points re examined for a $4000 toyota hiace or try and
fundraise the bucks for a new bus 20K+.
What I'm asking is this - if there is anyone on the NSW Central coast (or nearbyish) that would be able to help us out - it would be much
appreciated. There may even be a favourable mention in a newsletter if you play your cards right
Cheers
Paul
Yeah mate go to safe travel solutions in gosford, they are in the industrial estate by the dog track. They did the work on my seating in my panel van
and an engineer comes to them every Wednesday to check and sign off all there work.
Dan
Go to a different RTA office.
do you know the original engineers name ? if so get a copy from them
Cheers for the advice.
I know the Safe Travel Solutions place - they sorted me out with a baby seat for the car. I'll suggest that the the boss.
The original engineer has retired and all the paperwork has vanished apparently.
We were quoted $4000 for another inspection plus whatever changes need to be made. I have no idea what engineering certs cost - but at that kind of
price, it makes me rethink my profession a little.
the certificate number should be on the old rego papers down the bottom , that all it needs . unless you added things after it was approved ?????
nsw rta regos a million new cars a year. so who knows how they find any paper work .
