What Carby goes on this manifold and do you have one?

Hi Guys,

I inherited this Twin Port manifold, however it does not have a Carby.

Does anyone know what Carby it needs and does anyone have one?

Cheers,

David

Blast from the past!
I'll have a guess, it looks to me like a Zenith/Bugspray manifold.
Both carbs are now impossible to find, even in the US, but you will probably be able to adapt with little effort a Stromberg 2BBL (253 Holden), a Carter BBD 2BBL (Valiant), or if you can find a nice one a Weber DCNF. New stuff could use an Empi 38 DGAS if you're keen to tune, my pick (I can hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth from over here! ) would be a Holley 350 for easy tuning and simple running, but a new Weber IDF with an adaptor plate would be what most would pick.
If your runners are bigger than 1.3/8" then when it's cold it will idle like a fueller, but once warm they work OK.

yep Webber DCNF I used to have one worked well

possible 40mm or might be even 42 mm measure it

I think I have a brand new 42 mm Webber new been used

what size is the engine

Looks like the adaptor plate could do with some blending and polishing

Yep NDIX Zenith or 4bolt dcn Weber carb. Both are very good carbs. Have both in brissy if interested.

Ran one of these and a DCN on the Fvee for the Sydney drags back in 2012 for a bit of fun. Get the jetting right and they go like stink! The combo certainly made a difference to the 1600!

Gene Bergs favourite single manifold carby. :tu:

Yup DCNF, bit of a pain to get tuned and jetted right. but a very nice, extremely reliable carb

Webbers and Holley had a different bolt pattern, best to measure it up 1st.

The Holleys were really bad for icing up. Craig the one on your Vee looks to be 4 bolt, thats a DCNF, DCN were 3 bolt

The later dcn14's were 4 bolt too I'm fairly sure. I have one somewhere, I have a couple of these manifolds, a dcn14, a zenith and a bug spray. They all fit. The holes on my manifolds are slightly elongated to fit the different carbies.

this would explain the size of the holes in mine too. Or someone has "customised" it already before we had them for that reason
