Dont know if anyone is interested but the Seat Leon Cupra (basically a stripped down golf gti with 276 hp and a factory roll cage) has set a record
for a lap around the infamous nurburgring circuit in under 8 minutes. The car is stock standard and has claimed a few scalps along the way beating
some very fancy machinery including the last dodge viper, aston martin dbs and the cadillac cts/v.
I'm sure some inferdels will continue to explain to me that front wheel drives handle like shit but I guess the numbers dont lie so while most cars
are drifting in a smoke filled frenzy this hot hatch has already been and gone!
Even better you can drive it to the track and theres no room for the kids..............sounds good to me
fwd in shortwheel base for the way
Thats is cool,i love reading stuff like this..any links to the car...
a couple of months back i stumbled accross a well driven stock crx at the same citcuit, and it was a great vid to watch, the dude could drive and he did
a respectable time even when he got held up by two bike riders at the end,he fc hucked a spaz at em which i would of to,lol...ill try find it
Thanks
Fabo
FWD nowadays can be really good, I recently drove the Renault Clio RS around the ring myself. It was awesome.
To my knowledge that was the fastest thing around there (not that I got anywhere near that), unless the Leon is a very recent thing?
I also discovered (and kinda knew anyway) that VW don't do any testing or anything there.....Just not interested apparently. So good to see that SEAT are getting out there.
Yeah Boozo, I think it was only a week ago. The renault held the record since 2011 but the Seat bet it by 10 seconds.
Apparantly the upcoming honda civic type r has also come in under 8 minutes so it will be interesting.
The new honda has 280 horsepower (they finally gave in an fitted a turbo to give them some real grunt) so it would be very close.
The new euro spec mk7 golf r has 300 horses but would be a fair bit heavier with its all wheel drive.
