Just cruising the web looking for panel vans and came across this site.
http://www.southwestsplitz.com/#!for-sale/c1a4e

Saw that they were selling a panel van 74. Same as mine for £6000 about 10000 Aussie. .(ouch)

What really got me though was there line if you don't see what you like we can check stocks in Australia.

Maybe it's just me but I 'm like hands off, hahaha,

Hope you have the same view when it comes to all of the guys on here with LHD bugs and busses...

The car belongs to to whoever owns it now, so if they want to sell it to a buyer from the UK for a reasonable price that's the owners prerogative, or you could buy them all lol

LHD here is good, I'm just moaning that we are losing vw's to other countries.

1303steve I would buy everyone I see but my budget is nothing, hahaha.

I'm probably digging a bigger hole for myself but that's just how I feel losing vw's to other countries who then sell em on. More here the better.

So ours came from Europe in the first place.
If they didn't export any, we would have none!
Get over it.
The owner can take it wherever they choose.

I reckon more have been imported over the years than exported

As others have said.........move on

Next

I understand and feel the smae way.
The U.S. has been losing their VWs to the U.K. in droves, for many years and soon won't have any.
Those who say "it is the owner's perogative" are right but that isn't going to make anyone feel better when there aren't any VWs left in your area.

No. Our air-cooled Volkswagens were made here, in Melbourne, stamped by Australian workers with Australian steel and up to 80% Australian parts from other suppliers.

Only the first six months of sales in 1954 were full imports. From mid-'54 they were locally assembled from German kits, with each year after that getting more local content. Australian steel panels were used from 1959-68. After that they were German kits again, but with some Australian parts. This includes the Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3. Even the Golf and Passat were assembled in Australia.

not sure how you can be alright with LHD but not alright with buses going to UK or anywehre else. if LHD are good then they have been imported from other countries.... is this not the same but in reverse?

not having a go, just intrigued with your thinking.
