It's getting a bit old having all this outages whilst I'm away from the computer, but tonight's crash was special.
Apache, our web server, died for no good reason, but worst of all didn't automatically restart, and was completely offline (and nothing else).
There's nothing in the logs, and there's no dodgy stuff going on elsewhere, so I'm a bit flummoxed as to how to change things to improve Apache if
there's no trace of why it died in the first place. This is the first time this has ever happened on the forum.
So basically, I've thrown the baby out with the bathwater and replaced Apache with nginx. This is a relatively new server used by all the top adult
web sites, and thus seems to scale well on modern hardware.
I'll be keeping an eye on it, but if you notice the forum down again, please call or SMS me on 0451 057 580 or post to the Aussieveedubbers Facebook
group - someone there will let me know that way as well.
thanks,
Andrew
