VALE Matt Ryan
beetleboyjeff - June 7th, 2014 at 07:40 AM

Matt Ryan from Port Macquarie passed away on Thursday morning.

Matt was quite an active member of our VW community on the Mid North Coast, and only found out he was crook about 6 weeks ago. I only found out about 2 weeks ago that he was crook when he PM'd me to look after our VW stand at the big swap meet in Port Macquarie. It was there I found out that he may not even survive the weekend.

Matt was bringing up his 2 grandsons - Nace 4, and Matt 6 months. I believe his other family members will now look after them.

Matt's funeral will be at the crematorium in Port Macquarie on Tuesday at 2 pm. Matt's son Gary is organising to have the casket transported there in Matt's Kombi, and anyone with a VW who is interested is invited to escort the Kombi from Matt's house in Fisher St, Port Macquarie to the crematorium, meeting at 1,15pm.

So sad. Never met Mat, but like many here, had numerous conversations with him.
He always came across as a damn nice bloke.

Matt sounds like a great person from those that knew him and in my eyes even a greater person for raising his grandchildren.

I'm sure he will be greatly missed. RIP, Matt.

Sad news indeed, was a great bloke.
Will be sadly missed by his family, and the local VW community has lost one of it's most passionate members.

RIP Matt.

All the best to Matt's family and while I don't know him I know he was kind, a couple of years ago put a request on the forum for a 60's bumper bar. Matt gave me a front and rear set for free, wanted them for fenders for the Dub-cycle, link below.

Thanks Matt for your random act of kindness!

Well, a number of us VW people attended Matt's funeral today to say goodbye to a good mate.

As arranged, his son Garry had decked out Matt's T3 to carry the casket, and we had a small escort of VWs to the crematorium.

After the service, most of us attended the wake to share VW stories about Matt.
