hey guys
I was traveling with my dad on the weekend doing around 100 kph when I could smell a funny smell I pulled over and believe me when I looked under my
very clean undercarriage I realized my gearbox was pissing out oil everywhere looks like its coming from the selector shaft seal has anybody had one
go that quickly before its like it built up pressure and it just exploded any help would be great
steve
Any history on the box, age, mileage was it serviced or recently oil changed???? Has it not been on the highway before? Selector seals won't suddenly go, the breather is just above the selector shaft....
its a single side plate irs superbug box it could possibly be from the breather, Its been on the highway many a time without a problem oil has been in there for many trips without a hiccup as well it just seems weird that its all of a sudden its started leaking out like it has but any help would be great
Yeah, well that's pretty odd then. You'll have to clean it and diagnose where it's coming from. The selector shaft is inside the tunnel....Have a look at wear and oil from under the back seat at the coupling.
ill have a look in the morning cheers for your help matt
well had a look tonight instead coming from above that so must be from the breather for some reason its in a buggy so the space is minimal have you seen this before matt
Not really, must be over full. Maybe the car was jacked to one side when filled? Unless DB can help, nothing I know of will make a tranny pump from
the stock breather. If it's old, maybe wear at the intermediate housing from the thrust loads has created an oil passage????
I'd be checking the level on level ground and if high let some out to the filler plug, if ok, more investigation required.
Perhaps the breather itself is blocked? Allowing pressure to build when heating up.
