When the tyres are off there are normally markings on the inside of the rim..

there were many different offsets for standard wheels over the years and models.

type 3 used as far as I know across production 4.5" x 15, ET 45mm. that is for all 4 stud type 3.

beetles had many offsets, normally much less than type 3. I don't know the numbers though as i don't have a beetle.

when you look down on one the centre hub is in line with the outer rim while the other has more lip

Is there some kind of cross reference chart someone has tucked away?

68 and 69 Beetles had 4 inch rims and Beetles from then on had 4 1/2 inch rims 68 onwards Type 3 were all 4 1/2 inch all 4 x 130 PCD
