A few pics might help.... It's probably just the Australian 1500 with twin carbs and an S badge on the back. They're very different to a German 1500 S which had many other features

Paul,

Send a polite PM to a fellow called Dallas who goes by the username of 1500S , he should be able to help you out. Not sure if he is on here very much though these days.

Cheers
Brendan

Still around at times Brendan! Will have to get up your way again.

Here's a couple of pics of the real German built 1500S. Note the bumper, indicators and bonnet trim etc and the interior trim. The OZ built one from 1965 had none of this.

How does the one you are looking at compare 66doubledoor

Not yet mate!!

Someone on here almost got me interested in a drive up The Putty Road to Grey Gums Cafe last year from memory when he posted for anyone interested in the drive. He never replied to the answer. Makes you wonder why they bother to prattle on at times and then not carry through!!

Must look at rear brake cyls as I think they are a bit gummed up last time I had it out of the shed. Only did around 50km last year. I do however run the engine every week or so.

I think the one I have is a 1500 twin s it is pretty much a rough rolling shell , it has the 100 mph dash and the s on the boot and same door trims as yours , it has owners manual and sales docket that says 1500 s thanks paul

Its an Aussie 'S'. The specs were not very exciting compared to overseas versions. Twin carbs and an 'S' badge on the back was about it.

But it is an early notchback, which makes a great base for Project. Best to hold onto it now because a lot of them have left our sunny shores over the last few years for England and the U.S.
