I purchased my 1976 Beetle for $5,000 in good going condition, absolutely no rust, good interior and headlining, no body damage.

Admittedly it's a hard top, but from my observations they bring better dollars than convertibles.

There was a top condition convertible for sale down the road from me for $4,500, didn't need any money spent on it and had a new top.

Are we talking a chop top here or a factory convertable ? Big difference !

Is it a real Karmann convertible or a chop top?
If its a chop top make sure it has all of the engineering paperwork, but that price does sound high if not in great condition.
If its a real Karmann there are a few on Carsales right now, 16K, 20k and 26k. Check them out and compare.
Good luck

ohqpi, that figure is about what I paid for my 76 factory cab, it's in top nik with a new roof.

A genuine factory Karmann Cabriolet is different to a common Beetle sedan that has had its roof cut off. The Cabriolet is worth more than $10K if it has a current roadworthy and is not a piece of junk. A chop top sedan made into a roadster is not worth much at all. To restore a Cabriolet including rust, paint, chrome, top and interior would cost $20K to $30K

id say the op deleted it in an attempt to delete the conversation.

adlbeetle66 - October 2nd, 2015 at 09:06 AM

Well it was moved from buying, selling and swapping cars to here so maybe it was deleted in the process?

barls - October 2nd, 2015 at 09:44 AM
