Has anyone here bought from Chirco in America???
BlasterTheRedBajaBug - May 24th, 2017 at 11:54 AM

I was looking at parts today and putting together a list of needs and wants for my baja, and I found an American VW parts supplier and, the prices were a fair bit cheaper too.
So I was wondering has anyone bought from them here in Australia?
Cheers

You will find that the shipping costs and the AU to US dollar exchange rate will be the biggest kick in the guts with buying from the US

With an order over, and don't quote me on this I think it was over, $750 you got free world wide shipping so I was thinking put one list together and buy in one lot and if I forget anything just buy it here in Aus. The main pain in the butt is the wait time on ordering, which is what has been said on The Samba even in America it is up to a 2 week wait.

Freight charges are to be included in the costs of course, but they are pretty steep.
I have a tendency to buy in Osborne Pk first (Perth suburb, so local enough for me), then Oz if I am able to even if it means I end up paying a bit more (I placed an order just this morning actually!), but for some things it really does pay to shop around sometimes.

On a purely personal note, overseas suppliers I have had good results with is CIP1, Summit Racing (damn I love that toy-shop!), CB Performance, and also VW Heritage in the UK (free freight over $250).

Ok I will check them all out and I have found out it is over $1000 and you get free shipping but I don't think I really need that much stuff

Just be aware if your order is over $1000 you will pay import duties.

Plenty of places in Aussie to purchase from and you wont have to return the incorrect part supplied

I agree Dave the prices look good and the pictures pretty but often the end result is a costly disaster. We have plenty of reliable suppliers who support the VW aftermarket with quality parts, service and advice born from experience.

So I have looked at Aussie part suppliers and have decided to buy slightly more local but I still have to drive an hour every trip :grind: down to Mick motors and also order parts online from VOLLKS.com.au.
Thanks for the info and opinions
Michael

Right now I am comparing price and reviews on each product from 4 different places from Brisbane to Sydney and putting together an excel document with where the part is from what it is and how much.:tu:
