Carravelle Kombi
tdegens - December 19th, 2017 at 10:51 AM

Oh Dear, Brothers Kombi dropped a valve and it went through his piston. It's a 1991 Carravelle . Is it better to put in a Subi, Recondition the Existing Motor or offload it to someone else? Its got Factory Aircon and all original interior with Captain Seats.

Food for thought?

If the body is good I would save it.

If the studs are good - I would put new heads and P&C's in there

If the body is shot - you will get a fair bit in parts

As Bizarre said, lots of options. T3's are worth saving and have a growing following, and late models like yours seem the most popular.
Which way you go is up to you, there are pro's/con's for converting or re-building.

If you re-build, have it done properly and you will have a great motor that lasts. If you convert, there are a few places now specialising in it (on in Noosa a few people have used also), so drive in/drive out, they do all the work an compliancing for you.
