Can anyone identify this VW?
speedster356 - September 6th, 2003 at 07:17 PM

Does anyone have any info on this racing VW from the early 70's I think.
The Fiat in front of it is Holden powered.

You're reading the same mag as me Pete?

What about the previous page in the sports sedan column. Something about "... VW-Chev of Brian Thompson ..."

speedster356 - September 7th, 2003 at 08:03 PM

That would explain the grill in the bonnet then!
Love the image on the back page.

I'm not sure which year, (I think 72 or 73) but Brian Thompson ran a black type 3 with a 350 chev in tha Australian Sports sedan champs....

i think the type 3 had a mid-mounted chev...

I have a big car-lovin family, and most of my cousins are holden/chev fans - which means i regularly get asked "when am i gonna mid-mount a 350 in that wagon?"... ah, and offers for free coolant and radiator caps... they're so funny.

My 1st car was a Fiat 600 with the regular suicide doors(opened mine at 50mph as was not closed properly on the 1st day and got my 1st dent) stupid idea. That one looks like an Abarth version 850cc.volma1
