Does anyone have any info on this racing VW from the early 70's I think.
The Fiat in front of it is Holden powered.
Hi Peter
Im pretyy sure that was Pat Crey, he always had a funny vent in the bonnet like that one has.

Sorry can not help.
But I recon he is about to lap him
lap him??? it's holden power, so he's probly lapping him for the second time around (my guess is it's the 2nd lap too:P)
You're reading the same mag as me Pete?
What about the previous page in the sports sedan column. Something about "... VW-Chev of Brian Thompson ..."
That would explain the grill in the bonnet then!
Love the image on the back page.

"Bathurst spectators in the 80's pay tribute to their heros on the track"
I'm not sure which year, (I think 72 or 73) but Brian Thompson ran a black type 3 with a 350 chev in tha Australian Sports sedan champs....
Anyone wanna buy a 59 fiat 500 like the one in the top pic?

i think the type 3 had a mid-mounted chev...
I have a big car-lovin family, and most of my cousins are holden/chev fans - which means i regularly get asked "when am i gonna mid-mount a 350
in that wagon?"... ah, and offers for free coolant and radiator caps... they're so funny.

My 1st car was a Fiat 600 with the regular suicide doors(opened mine at 50mph as was not closed properly on the 1st day and got my 1st dent) stupid idea. That one looks like an Abarth version 850cc.volma1
Can remember my best friends brothers car, Fiat, rounded a corner and the passenger door flew open, I reached over and closed it. He was very impressed!! Is'nt that what you do when a door flies open?????
