Ok, I'm not a cop.. all i want to know is the maximum velocity you hav reached, where and what you have driven to attain this. Doesn't have to be in a VW...

Disclaimer: I'm not encouraging or do I support speeding. (this is not to say it don't!)

:)

Robo - September 15th, 2003 at 05:50 AM

I gunned the Kombi, and got her up to 130 kmh, it was scary man, eyes were blerring, trouble breathing, and the G force was incredible! :D:D:D
Rob.....

speedster356 - September 15th, 2003 at 08:05 AM

193 MPH (308ish KPH) for 2 hrs in an aircooled with eight cylinders 360hp fuel injected. :thumb
From Port Maquarie to Lord Howe Island @ 9000' on my lonesome, CD playin, heater on, (Espatcher (sp)) GPS gone down and hoping that the Island will come up sooner or later. Kinda fun.

speedster356 - September 15th, 2003 at 09:25 AM

Baja Wes - September 15th, 2003 at 09:53 AM

about 900kph in a 737, felt slow though. I wasn't driving either :)

kombikim - September 15th, 2003 at 10:02 AM

just over 130mph in my brother in laws 1964 Jensen CV8 Mark 111 down what is now the M4 , racing what was then a brand new Torana SLR5000 L34 bathurst special , one day I will tell my brother inlaw,
135mph down the same road in my 1958 Austin Healey 100/6 (drum brakes that usually had nothing left at the end of the main straight at Oran park from 90 mph
100mph in the Humber, just to see if it would do it, James Ruse Drive (TERRIFYING!)
& 130kmh in my original Kombi, which actually seemed quite comforetable

555bug - September 15th, 2003 at 10:10 AM

280 on a ZX9 racing a few friends on a deserted highway up the coast :) (still got beat though)

BiX - September 15th, 2003 at 11:16 AM

The bug will sit on 160km/h just about dead on 5000rpm in 4th gear. it will hold it up hill and won't go faster down hill. thats on a back road near beaudesert on my way from and to work each day. But a new engine and I should be able to get faster.

fastest i have been is 210 in a mates 180sx, south of byron bay:D

Fastest I've been in a VW: 75mph, with my 36hp wheezing away, down hill, with a strong tail-wind.

A Tatra perhaps?

I'v been 192 ish in a 97 Civic up near Benambra (near where the bushfires were a little while ago)... sitting in 4th on 6900 rpm with 2 passengers and a full boot on 'Classic 65' tyres... just wouldn't go any faster. I wanted to ditch all the excess wieght and do another run in the opposite direction... but didnt.

69auto - September 15th, 2003 at 01:19 PM

200kph in datsun

both times i not driving

Jay_1965vw - September 15th, 2003 at 01:26 PM

I accidentally did 130 km/h in someones (currently dead) turbo kombi, driving down the Hume Hwy. It seemed quite comfortable... probably why I did it...

Wolf's made it to around 75 m/h. I'm tame I know :)

I think if your at 9000 feet in a tatra then you got problems.

That's sad to hear about Chris' passing. We won't forget him. Long live the memory of Fraser

Quickbug - September 15th, 2003 at 04:00 PM

Weekly runs down the m4 headed for penrith, or on the way to the runs on the hume hwy, running with the fast fours mob, i reguarly clocked my old 72 super...
Then let off the gas and watched 5 foot flames shoot out and light the place up...
The fellas loved it :P

Stanley - September 15th, 2003 at 07:39 PM

Man I could do some bragging here, like the time in a Blackhawk just above the beach at full noise, or a ride in a current airforce jet, but i wont.

Mad Manx - September 15th, 2003 at 08:11 PM

260 kph im my mates 1962 Ford Anglia!!! with 1800 rpm left till redline (260 is all the speedo goes too)

Do admitt It is not even close to stock tho

56astro - September 15th, 2003 at 08:23 PM

Sam, that would be 206 km/h!

:o

waltermitty - September 15th, 2003 at 08:26 PM

FASTEST ON LAND SO FAR AND LEGAL 340 KMs on the Bullet train out of Tokyo.
Was smooth as , much smoother than the 117 kms on 223cm downhil skies clocked with a radar gun at Thredbo a few years ago , now that was real fast very hard to see and very hard to stop.
MitCHevLl:cool:.

Oasis - September 15th, 2003 at 08:31 PM

I did 200+ between Port Hedland and Broome in WA in an old ford LTD 351. The road is lined with 9-10 feet high grass. A bull ran out from the left straight across the road and into the grass on the other side. Scared the shit out of me, then a couple of minutes later I put the high beam on and there was a water buffalo (I think) standing in the middle of the road. His tail went up one fender and over the roof.... I slowed down to 120 after that. Felt like I was going at a walking pace. The best drive ever was last year though, driving a Lamborghini Miura through the Adelaide hills. Who cares how fast.

Oasis - September 15th, 2003 at 08:34 PM

Oh yeah, got clocked by the police doing 110kph on my road bike (bicycle) when I used to race them, going down the esses at Mt Panorama
