Did anyone see that show on SBS tonight about Hackers (computer types). They showed some of the original hackers and talked to them about how they started.
Apparently they started screwing around the telephone systems with tones and getting free calls etc. The most famous one at the time was a guy called Captain Crunch (real name John Draper).

The show had him and one of his buddies crusing around in (San Fransisco I think) a nice split bus.
No VW logo, but nice chrome strips on it. Looked like someone had spent a little time and care on it.

How cool was the Split-very nice 2 tone paint job!
It sounded like it was still running the 1200 as well!
Was it a 13 window bus?? Was running the delux jail bars at the rear and the delux aluminium muolding!

The guy also said he had a Kombi back in the 60's....I wounder if it is the some one he is talking about!

A nice ride....very envious!
