VWFOOL - October 19th, 2002 at 10:58 PM

despite getting to the picinic abit late, I had a really good day and got to talk to some cool guys and score something nice at the swap meet.
The Oval ran really well all the way there and back and I was very impressed, this being my first big run in it since Penrith.
I hope everyone else had a good time and enjoyed some pics...

hav fun

Matt.

56astro - October 20th, 2002 at 08:04 PM

I can sense a ground swell of Oval revivals!!

After all, they have the most character of all VWs, don't they.

Grey 57 - October 20th, 2002 at 08:17 PM

Does it still have the injected turbo motor? From memory it used a falcon throttle body injection system and an Isuzu turbo on a pretty radical engine set up. Nice wheels love the chrome on black.

Astro, I agree mate? Bring on the ovals:thumb

56astro - October 20th, 2002 at 08:45 PM

That was Brendon Leyshons (?) and featured in an Oz mag

KOM123 - October 20th, 2002 at 08:55 PM

What a small world, Brendon services my Kombi and I work with Mel, great people both of them and real VW nuts :)

68AutoBug - October 24th, 2002 at 10:48 PM

On the 2nd pic from the panthers day, the 4th pic on the top row is a pic of a engine bay in a Beetle ...... and is that an Air Conditioner COMPRESSOR ?... Looks like it should be on a Mac Truck... or Maybe its something else... Very Large Pump of some kind.....
The Engine Bay IS FULL of Stuff ....What is it All for?? Can't actually see much of the Engine...:o Anyone have any info on this Engine & Car... :o I Do Believe its the engine bay of the RED Karmann Cabriolet, which is probably air Cond and Fuel Injected.... Why in the world did they use a compressor that large?? The One on My 2001 Lancer is about 1/2 the size of a VW generator....and I think its made from alloy.:o
