Dune Buggy History in Australia - Help Needed
Buggy Boyz - October 20th, 2002 at 08:40 PM

I have been approad by James Hale ( Author of Dune Buggy Handbook, A-Z of VW based Buggies since 1964 ) Anyway he is writting a new book on a more global scale and has asked me to write the Australian content for him.
Since I ain't that old .... I need help from anyone out there with pictures and information on Dune Buggies in Australia. I am very keen to get any info on them in the late 60's and 70's in particular.
I have tracked down a few of the old characters and look forward to talking to more soon.

Cool, if they are OZ mags I would love to have a look. I will be on Fraser with the Manx club when the show is on.

whats your timeline??

i'm sure i've got a buggy build article from a 70s aust hot vws or something.

trouble is i'll have to literally dig it up from the shed it's in.

when i find it, i should be able to scan & email if you want - could take a while....

An old bloke who lives close to me had a clean out and tossed out a heap of old car magazines........except one.......he gave it to me because there was a feature on dunebuggies.
"ROAD & TRACK" november 1964.
The article covers a number of different buggies, one of which being...............you guessed it........the "MEYERS MANX" with a kit price of US$995. wouldn't you love to pay that now. Send me a postal address by e-mail and I will send you photocopies of the front cover of the mag and the relevant pages. keep on bugging!.....Stuart.
