Sorry for the delay. The move coincided with my being unavailable because I had to move into my new house (nightmare) and going to Brisbane
immediately after that.
I no longer have a cable modem as well. :-( The wet piece of string defeated me several times in a row.
Anyway, we're back now. You will need to log on again, but things should be a little more stable than before as the site and the content are the
same host for the first time.
Please post here with any problems. I've noticed a couple already, but I may not see everything.
Andrew
Hooray!!! Welcome back everybody
Ok, so what happened and how can we prevent it from occurring again?
Good job Andrew, I know it must have been a lot of work.:thumb
Now I know how a junkie must feel when the supply is withdrawn.....
Good to be back.
:thumb
Nothing really happened as such. We have simply moved onto a full domain package through one of my nameservers. This way the forum is not connected to
any other sites and can setup its own sponsorship. Basically this meant moving servers and then restoring all the data to teh new place ( something we
could not do on eziboard ). We are now at the new place and as you will see nothing is lost or damaged. A few bugs but that is pretty much it.
To prevent it happening again ... well that is why I moved it onto my nameserver and have the ability to effect most things that may occur.
Congratulations to everyone concerned.
I don't know of the work involved cause I am a 'net dunce, but from the time the site has been down I would imagine that it has been a
Herculean effort.
Hooray!!!
Well done to those involved, it must have been a lot of work....all so the rest of us can enjoy the fruits of your labour!!
Cheers
Alan
I really missed you Guys / Girls. They say that absence makes the heart grow fonder.......
Sounds like a good move with the new server etc..... Like full independance.
Well Done.
I was simply unavailable as the site move clashed with some of my worst availability in years. If this move had occurred two weeks prior or later this
week, assuming the the DNS details were already pointing at the new site, it might have taken a few hours to move us.
The new site doesn't allow command line access (ssh) without begging, so that prevented me from doing the job when the data hit the new site,
costing us a day. But now I know who to ring to get access, so if we need to do funky command line stuff again, it'll be much faster.
This is the downside of only having one technical helper.
But hey, we're here now, and it should be good.
Andrew
We're back!!!
Hey, missed you all LOL
Great job Andrew and others involved :thumb
Really you did get us up again pretty fast, even though it felt like forever. Hmmm, it was sort of like having the umbilical cord cut :o
Cheers
Jen
Hi there,
We suffered from a default account bandwidth limit of 6 MB per day. We've bumped that to 275 MB per day, which should be more than ample.
We should see no more "509 Bandwidth exceeded errors".
Andrew
Thanks heaps to both of youse for all the trouble and effort youse went through on our behalf.
It seems altruism is alive and kicking!
Explaining what happened is like explaining rocket science to a tadpole in my case. The taddy would work out the rocket bit before I could address an
email I reckon.....

Hey great work .. From my point of view it was tough ... Worse than giving up cigarettes!
Keep up the great work ..
Great to be back on line....''
I was getting BORED at work and was actually doing some work for the past week...
Great to be back. Missed this forum and the people over the last week or so.
I see we have some new features too.
Crikey! Some mad dutchmen flew me to Melbourne for a week for training and I missed the whole thing - am I lucky, or what?
You certainly were lucky. I have been suffering withdrawals like you would not believe, checking the forum upwards of three times a day! :jesus
Great job Andrew & Brad.
PS. I love the new smilies, are there more? How about a popup menu?
:bounce Thanks guys
missed the site heaps when it wasn't here. Keep forgetting to thank you for the work you do and take it all for granted, then I realise it when
something goes.
Thanks
Penguin
I missed it all too. Didn't get the trip to Melbourne but, just had to get some work done. Now some bastards goint to give me a job and I'll
have to go again. At least I won't keep getting disconnected any more which is my main technical problem. When the nets paid for the phone goes
down.
Sounds like your doin alright there Andrew. Good job. Now we just have to fit the type three with a decent lift kit and rubber and take some of the
weight out of it and you'll be right to come to Stockton in April.
The Bronze. Here's some inspiration.
