brb = Be right back
"ie. means "That is" as in when clarifying a point. "
as in the latin "Id Est"
E.g. for exlemplae gratia, as in an example
and my fav latin quote
"Fac ut gaudeam"
it means Make my day!
Just checked out the dictionary and FYI I found it to be very useful NBFAB.
Thanks dodge for the link
A lot of those abbreviations I firstd used in old times on the BBS (Bulletin Board Service). When chatting on the internet with other users they were
not overused like SMS which needs to be shortened, but helped to reflect emotions. Emoticons like were not available, you used them so the person reading what you had written would not take your comments the wrong way. A
lol at the end of a sentance would mean you are only having fun.
Nothing worse than chatting and someone reads the other end VERY differently and takes offence.
So all you young whipper snappers with your SMS talk can go to buggery. LOL
Which way to buggery?:P
Ooooooh Buggery. What a fantastic thought.
"He's not the Messiah! He's a very naughty boy!"
*snickers* buggery . . . . . does ne1 else know what that means .... hehe i learnt it in legal studies
ccheers
adz
Just don't say "Well bugger me!" too often, as you may just get what you ask for.
I have to wonder about all the toyotas with the sticker BUGGER all over them. Is it saying something about the driver or the car???? :o
