hi has any one had a responce for an add that thay say that thay will forward larger amount of money ect,,seen on samba site about it and had heaps of them while trying to sell a 74 kombi,wich i still have

There was something about this on the radio this week. Related to ebay auctions and buyers sending cheques for a greater amount. Sellers would send goods and wait for the correct cheque amount but it never came.

There was a bit about it on http://www.type2.com  recently. Apparently it's a well known scam.

waiting for the cheque to clear doesn't really help in this instance there is a loophole that allows foreign banks to grab back the money if funds arn't in the account - weird I know.
The way ppl get caught is by waiting for the money to clear and forwarding the amount overpaid a couple of days later the bank inform you that the cheque didn't actually clear and you are now overdrawn. not fair but have you ever tried to argue with a bank.

The reason I know about this (and why you probably wouldn't get ripped off in OZ) is that not too long ago I deposaited a Bank check drawn on a UK bank. Even though it should have cleared straight away I had to wait 7 days before it cleared and then a further 21 days before I was allowed access to the funds (I did receive interest on the funds).

these scammers seem to be everywhere.
I receive scammers letters every day by email saying I have won this amount of money etc.. the last one was - that I had won 750,000.Euros but because I lived outside of Europe I would have to deposit between 600 & 900 euros in their bank account for transferring fees..... naturally I didn't, and so I didn't receive My 750,000 euros either.... hay g freind just went to get some vw parts but creditcard scamed ,someting carabiean.com not vw realated but still ,,f%#kin set me back onpaint job just want it done bad carma to internetscamers and i want to smash you up, sorry but the vw scene in melb is ? apart from volkspower is there any honest vw workshops ? havent seen any,while im whinging,well have you ,no wonder there a dying breed,:o,because it cost so much and thay get sold on and on,still love vw just going off line for a bit to sort my split fantasty out for a bit ,happy veedubin,
