Grey/white side beetle photos wanted !
Craig Torrens - October 26th, 2003 at 07:21 PM

Well, after convincing the better half:D we should use beetles for our wedding in March, its time to get the body work sorted on my 65'. 80% sure we will paint it grey with white sides but I would love to see some pictures before I'm 100%. I know there are members on the forum with this color scheme eg Astro's oval, but not too sure where to look !!!!! Could you please post a photo or Link to some:thumb this would really help.

Thanks to all who can help :beer
P.S. or any other colour options you may think would be "classy/classic" for the day !

Hi Craig

I know the racing stripes and door numbers etc aren't what you are after but my bug was anthracite grey/white two tone. I'll try and find a progree shot of before the stripes etc went on. It is a nice combo (but I am biased of course).

Alan
Congrats on the upcoming wedding (and on the big tv debut a while back as well).

Damn forgot to attach the pic...

this grey is probably too dark for what you are after though.

byronbus - October 26th, 2003 at 08:09 PM

I sold it a while back to a guy here in brissy - minus brms and accessories. Some of my friends have seen it running about the suburbs a few times!

thanks Alan, the TV show was certainly fun. Any side shots of your car ??
I always thought it was an olive colour !! not grey, would like to see close up or side on if poss.:thumb

Craig Torrens - October 30th, 2003 at 09:35 PM

thanks steve for the formulae :D

Is your car a lighter grey than the others ?

56astro - October 31st, 2003 at 09:58 AM

The pic in VW0064's post was taken in the shade so it does look darker. Whether it actually is or not - ??

If I had the time over again I would try and get a slightly darker grey. Maybe take most of the blue out of the formula and replace it with black.

There is a beetle (in Sydney I think) with the same paint as mine was ORIGINALLY. It would be good to be able to get a colour match to that paint.
:(

Dasdubber - October 31st, 2003 at 09:03 PM

Damn...pic didn't load...double post sorry.

Dasdubber - October 31st, 2003 at 09:06 PM

Hi Craig...here is a side view pic or two.

Colour code is L469 Anthracite grey - it does look a little olive in certain lights (especially arvo sun). Nice original colour.

Alan
