the pain of hail damage
type3kid - October 27th, 2003 at 08:56 PM

i was looking forward to saturday afternoon....i'd be driving up the coast in my square for a golf weekend. this fantasy was snapped back to reality when the old man told me i had to much stufff to take and it wouldn't fit in the square. 4 golf bags, 2 pull buggies and 4 bags are a tight fit. i got over that though. i arived at my destination around 9pm and was ready for drinks and a night out only to be confronted by the news that a severe hail storm had swept through my area and surrounding suburbs. the news of minor flooding, a few broken windows and smashed skylight on the house was disapointing...but i was told no news regarding the cars. the ses arrived sunday morning to patch up the house and replaced broken tiles. i larrived home sunday afternoon to see 2 of my squares pretty badly damaged. both had their blinker and rear light covers smashed and denting to all panels. 3 chrome strips were ruined 1 type 3 badge missing. the sadest news of all though is that my shitty parts car was very lucky and escaped majoir dents. just my luck
also, a quick thanx to the ses guys...they did a great job and show the true aussie spirit.

to all veedubbers around the area's affected....i hope your cars got away ok.

I'm waiting for the day when i can say that three of my dubs were damaged... at least i'll have three volkswagens :D
seriously tho, it's a shitter when random acts of god damage our ducos. I've heard that towels laid across the car can help. before, not after. :jesus

I have seen people stop and put a blanket over their car when its hailing...
this is ordinary light hail.. not the Golfball
size .... I don't know if they are standard blankets they carry or i they are special hail blankets.. a "doona" would be good..
but You would have to know when its going to hail.. and We never do.....
Lee :(:(:(

Well Graig you we were right about the festiva. She has a gone to the big festiva heaven in the sky. Doubt there's one for festiva's though. The Insurance company surprised me as they said the just want these things settled. The lady said the hail had destroyed it beyond repair. Now I have to work on the Mrs. Maybe I can convince her to get some more German metal. If only beetles had A/C it would be a sure thing.
