SKEWtYpe3 - October 28th, 2003 at 01:26 PM

good find, i like the roof, it looks like dr. who styling :)

plans for it ?

Spook - October 28th, 2003 at 01:52 PM

If it's got the reinforced floor, it's an original double door & worth grabbing just for that.
The roof extension was a popular enough modification, I,ve seen a few at scrappys over the years, although some were better than others.
An original highroof in Oz is as rare as rocking horse shit.

Good find but, definitely different...

baybuscamperkid - October 28th, 2003 at 04:56 PM

roof is a little odd, but stil a real sweeet find!

Old Dubber - October 28th, 2003 at 06:17 PM

Very interesting!
I have only seen the double floor on the early 21 & 23 window bus.
Can anyone confirm this?

Mr Bubble Head - October 28th, 2003 at 07:10 PM

looks like a coverted panel double door to me!

Bizarre - October 28th, 2003 at 07:53 PM

ok - silly question time?

What do you do when you find something like this???
How do you get it registered???

I ... um...."found" a dumped dub once. Didnt have number plates and had the council tow away stickers on it.
I ..... um..... "claimed" it and the police said i could be charged with stealing!?!?!?

I "had" to have the rego papers if "I" wanted to register it.

So what happens in this case????

volma1 - October 28th, 2003 at 08:56 PM

Unfortunately a mate found it b4 me but he has plans to bring it home over the weekend. Suspension incomplete but have spares. No plans for it yet but I have 1st dibs on the radio and aerial. I know the double skin floor was a strenghthening measure used on all 7 door deliveries and 21/23 window sambas and any factory derivitives needing extra support when the roof and sides were changed. Still there seem to be more odd bods coming out of the Tassie landscape. volma1

volma1 - October 28th, 2003 at 09:02 PM

Sorry forgot to reply regarding the what do I do when I find something like this. Well here in Tassie you usually just put it over the pits for inspection to register as there does not seem to be a problem if the vehicle has not been registered for years. As long as there is a VIN on the body. In this case the property owner gave it away for nothing just to get rid of it. Apparently it has been sitting for approx 25 years. volma1

jenz58 - October 28th, 2003 at 09:07 PM

Hmmmm, seems a good idea to go spotlighting over there in Tassie:thumb

Who cares about finding the Tasmanian Tiger?

*jenz looks around to see if anyone heard*

There are other, VW, critters out here in the wilderness:bounce

I'm gunna keep my eyes peeled on my next visit:D:thumb
