VWFOOL - October 30th, 2003 at 07:30 PM

just wondering if anyone has seen the interiors of rat look dubs? i hav seen alot of outside pics but never inside.
are they as clean as the mechanicals or as rat as the outsides?
anyone got some pics of sum websites where they show the interiors i would like to see that.
thanks
sam

The real "rat lookers" have bare spring seats with mexican blankets or similar over them. No or stripped interior boards. No carpet. Minimal weight is the name of the game....

so would really old original low back seats, really really old and worn looking and torn a little do, like blood red with white backs and sides?
and no door panels u say, just the bare shell of the door showing? and no carpet...

A sliced up interior would cause some serious roadworthiness issues... Not that it always matters but just saying :)

Pity I threw out that set of early Beetle door panels. They were black with white piping around the edge and were in great condition apart from being old and worn (no holes or scratches and vinyl still soft). Turfed them down the tip in a shell I got rid of...

thats a real shame. i'll keep my eye out at swap meets, sure theressome more original door panels floating around. anyone else got some interior bits theyre willing to giv away?

i reckon worn red/white lowbacks and doorcards without vinyl on them would look sweet. maybe some dechromed winder and door handles too.

its funny, all my old pitted chrome stuff might just be of some use now...
found these bugs on a farm, maybe they can offer some rat goodies...

Nicely done !!

Looks a good project car - do you know what year it is yet ? (small rear window - must be fairly early)

Will look good with BRM's and 2110 on 48 IDA's !!!! :)

dont use ripped chairs the horse hair will make a rash all over you and the original cloth hoodliner get it replaced couse when you cruise with all the windows down all the dust comes out of it and it makes you feel like shit!!
