Rob...
A real schwimmer.........
My dear o'l Dad told me a story about one of these boats. Was used as a ski boat in New Zealand. Had a really hotted up (for the day, late
fifties) motor fitted. One day they reved the thing that hard that it threw a rod, that smashed the case and punched a hole thru the hull and the boat
sank.
Not sure if its true (before I was born) but made for a good story. He was not a VW fan so I spose he was glad to see it go to the bottom of the lake.
What! not a VW fan! lucky his son saw the light!
Rob.....
Na not a fan at all. Still not. My Grandparents had 54 and 55 Beetles and a 59 Kombi and he was forced to take girl friends out in these cars, when
all his mates had Jags, and Ford Zephers. So he hated the VW's.
Funny that the humble VW today is a way kool car and the others , well .... not.
Never seen a VW boat in the flesh, but I have seen a VW motorbike in the flesh.
Does that count?
I thought this was going to be a story about using beetles as boats, as was popular a few years back. This works well as long as you don't have
Brazilian rubbers!
