Ghia prices
matara - November 18th, 2003 at 02:26 PM

I'm rebuilding the 40hp on my 61 Ghia to get it ready to sell (replaced by a 356). Its a pretty original car, and I was wondering what sort of price I should ask for. That was until I saw this link:-

http://www.karmannghias.com.au/karmannghias/pricelist.htm

Are 70's Ghias really going for that sort of $$$$. I know karmannghiadownunder imports them from the states, but who's paying this sort of money???

As everyone would say they are worth what someone wants to pay, but I never thought a 70's ghia was worth as much as those, even if they are cabrios! I would have thought about 16-17k for a good post 69 ghia!

Dude, If you want to get rid of your bug vert to buy the 356, let me know, I will be very interested!

Only the Ghia will be coming up for sale. I've got the 356 already and the bug vert is going through the germanlook treatment plant (Brembos and 17'Cups) as we speak and no plans to sell.

Ok....before I start my reply I hearby accept that some people won't agree with me.

I've visited the site posted, and those prices are an absolute joke. That is blatant profiteering. All that those prices do is baloon our existing prices.

Good luck to them however, but seeing as they're LHD imports, they should be LESS than our RHD models.

They aren't even show quality by the looks of it. An ex show cab would start from $20k - and maybe push $30k - but to be asking those sorts of prices will only capture the uneducated. Which no doubt, they've captured a few.

End rant.

Squiz.....

better hang on to the Ghia; it'll soon be worth more than the Porsche by the sound of that...
