Revenge on Jonny Wilkinson
squizy - December 4th, 2003 at 11:35 AM

I just picked this up from a mate.

Vote away!

Squiz....

Here's a chance for you to get your own back.

Apparently every Aussie in London is getting thrashed at the moment, so they have come up with this idea. Keep it in-house in order that we may have the last laugh on the poms. If you can remember back to the Semi-finals of the RWC when England beat France, the Sydney Morning Herald ran a poll to see if the public thought the game was dull, or scintilating. The pommies as you can imagine got wind of this and flicked an email to people back in their homeland to vote scintillating. An amazing 40,000 poms voted such that the outcome of the survey was that the most boring game in world rugby history game was indeed deemed to be scintillating. Now it is time to turn the tables!!! At present Jonny Wilkinson is the red hot favourite to win the 2003 BBC Sports Personality of the year. And guess what folks?........you can vote online!.

So I would suggest you get to the BBC website and vote for Tim Henman as all
the Ex-pat's in the UK are doing. So follow the steps below, vote and then pass this email to as many Australians as humanly
possible.

1. go to http://www.bbc.co.uk  http://www.bbc.co.uk/
2. then to the sports section.
3. bottom of the right hand side there is a link to vote for the BBC personality of the year.
4. Vote Tim Henman!!

squizy - December 4th, 2003 at 11:43 AM

Squiz...

Done....

robroy - December 4th, 2003 at 12:25 PM

so sad w*****r, are you such a sad loser that u r prepared to do such a childish school prank. If you watched the game as many times as I have, you would realise that not only did good ole Johnny kick the winning points but he made some crucial tackles and some fantastic runs. If I remember rightly Aus kicked a few points too....

Cam - December 4th, 2003 at 12:35 PM

It's just a joke dude

robroy - December 4th, 2003 at 12:44 PM

why deprive a deserving sportsman of a prize if thats who true voters want as sportsman of the year. Call yourselves a sporting nation.....learn to live with defeat as well as victory. Its not just one game, England have been playing to this for 4 years, congrats to Aus, they were written off as no-chancers before the tournement, but they came good, credit where credit is due.

Bizarre - December 4th, 2003 at 01:15 PM

Hmmmm...... we obviously differ on what a joke is Robroy.

Yep England played wonderful and beat Australia.
Wendel......... oh dear, want to buy him??

"Sydney Morning Herald ran a poll ..... An amazing 40,000 poms voted ....... Now it is time to turn the tables!!!"

Personally i think Johnny would see the funny side.

Oh well....... back to shades of grey and beige cardigans :(

fatboy - December 4th, 2003 at 01:20 PM

"It's just a joke dude"

No its not, its destroying a the chances of a deserving sportsman to acheive what would be a highlight of his career.

Just fucking pathetic

MickH - December 4th, 2003 at 01:38 PM

HeHe...Tim Henman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Wot a top dude. He is a deserving sportsman, hope this is the highlight of his career. He deserves the recognition!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kai.A. - December 4th, 2003 at 01:39 PM

i don't think 11 or 12 aussies voting against johnny is gonna make much difference....

and i say, let him have his glory, i don't like him, i don't like the english rugby team, but jeez, they almost never win anything so let them enjoy it!!! we just need to make sure we whoop them next time we meet :D

kai

p.s. bit silly voting for tim henman, he is neither a great sportsman or an interesting personality ;)

fatboy - December 4th, 2003 at 01:45 PM

11 or 12 wouldn't - but the age website is now carrying the story with a link.

:jesus

squizy - December 4th, 2003 at 02:10 PM

Thanks for the compliment Robroy. I really appreciate the fact that you called me a w***er across the internet miles. What a big bloke you are.

And you assume that I didn't watch the game as many times as you? Hmmm.... well having grown up around TG Milner Field [those who KNOW Rugby willknow what that is] I know a fair bit about Rugby, plus if you payed any attention to previous posts, you might like to have a look back and notice that I praised the English on their clinical and professional job. They were the best team and deserve to win.

This Robroy....is a joke. Get off your sad pills, and lighten up a little.

Sheesh.

I'm not far away from you 'mate', if you want to make an issue of it let me know.
A sportsmans career is very short and if he gets the real votes as sportsman of the year, yes it would be one of the highlights of his career. Who knows what might happen next year, I think you have had a few too many Australian sour grapes

Robo - December 4th, 2003 at 03:19 PM

Why don't we get off this subject! it's history now. Even though I am not happy about loosing to the Poms, you have to admit it was John Wilkinson that got em over the line, if he gets an award for it good on him. I'm not a bleeding heart. but the poms haven't won much of anything in the last few decades (excluding individual accomplishments) so a little national pride might get their spirits up. I just hope they don't start that Masters of the Empire thing up again!
Rob....

Unity-28 - December 4th, 2003 at 04:04 PM

Robroy, You got to remember something, Its always the better players who are the "hated" ones, that every team wants on their side. ME being an AFL guy, look at wayne Carey, and Thing he is one of the best players of all time, but other than Kangaroos fans (and now Adelaide) Who liked him when he was in his prime....Answer- NO-ONE. WIll it really make a difference if Little Johnny wins/doesnt win this award? NO it wont. Its just a joke dude, Lighten up...Damn, you even whinge when you win.

N!

Robo - December 4th, 2003 at 04:12 PM

Hey Unity
Whats Wayne up to now, I think he was a media victim, I would imagine a lot of other players have done similar things, Why was he singled out?
Rob......

waltermitty - December 4th, 2003 at 04:13 PM

HEY ROBROY,
Fact J.W. made 0 line brakes during the world cup zero! Thats correct not once did he manage to break the defence and get around his defender not against any world cup team.
Vote Henman I did !
Mitchell

robroy - December 4th, 2003 at 06:25 PM

well obviously you only saw the one game so did you notice how much effort he put into the general game play....
What about the last 5 games we've played the aussies on both soils and won every one of them.
Stop being sore bloody losers, most aussies I have spoken to admit the best team won on the night. Look at the aussie v Kiwi clash, nobody would have forecast that result, but hey the aussies pulled it off on the night.

Unity-28 - December 5th, 2003 at 08:42 AM

HE plays for The Adelaide Crows. HE was singled out, cause he did it with him vice-captains missus (they were also close mates)

N!

Robo - December 5th, 2003 at 09:40 AM

Bad move! but it takes two to tango!
What happened to her?
