You get a good 10 degree oil temp reduction

But the biggest plus is the fact that you then have speed clips on the deck lid. Easiest way to work on a motor!!

I'll take em. The cabrio is gonna need as much air it can get into the engine when its turboed.

I have stock oil cooling and only need more "sometimes"
This gives me that and a stock look when i need it.

Only ONE question - when you gunna make an electric/solenoid version.

I thought long and hard about that... using an MX-5 or something electric headlight motor. The edge along the top of the engine lid makes it impossible for the lid to pop straight out... damn!

What if you ground that edge off???

What purpose does it serve???

I would be interested in developing that idea if you are interested?

Yeah, electric Hoodjacks could be done as 'custom modification to individual cars, but it would be just about impossible to do as a 'bolt-on' kit.
Yes, you could grind the edge off, but then you gotta paint etc etc etc

I have them on my car as well, great being able to take the bonnet off to do any work. Very simple and clever design

My only problem is one side is rattling a bit as the pin is smaller than the pin removed.

When did you buy your Hoodjacks? Do you have the 'full circle' pins? The last couple of batches I have manufactured have been an improved design of Hoodjack also with a better design of 'R'-pin. I can supply for $10/4 pins

Bought them at VW action day Brissie in sep? off the pobjoys and they came with the R pins.
The rattling is only on 1 side

in the last couple of days i have had the most bizarre barrage (no pun intended) of people both known and complete strangers kindly informing me that i've left my bonnet open...
standard answers:
"yeah, it's okay it's sposed to be like that."
"it's to let more air in"
"that's not the bonnet"
"hmm.. yes..can I use your toilet?" (i was crazed after a long drive at an ungodly hour of the morning and i was at a servo)
"shit, oops.. no wait.. i thought you meant.. no it's fine."

I'm with blue, 10 - 15 degrees cooler, big bonus on these hot sizzling simmering sticky sunny summery days :thumb

Have had heaps of people coming up concerned that the engine cover is open also. good way to start a conversation.

The main problem I have had is that since I installed them it seems to be raining all the time!!!!

Yeah, when I first started making Hoodjacks (more than 10 years ago) I had people (even a cop once!) just about ramming me off the freeway to tell me "your engine lid is falling off!" This was from VW and non-VW people. Hey, it's nice to know some people give a ****! And yeah, good conversation starter with the ladies...

if you need comments from another satisfied customer. excellent product. easy to fit, a noticable lowering in engine temp, even without a gauge. they will be added to any car of mine that has more than a standard motor.
