T3 and type 3 are different types of VW's buddy, and it gets up some ppls gots like samba's, but i understand ya :)

some ppl say u need to cut the engine lid seal area a bit to fit it, no sure myself
probably wont be able to fit an engine lid at all
a better engine mount and gearbox mount setup would help your car stay together

anyone else got an idea?

Whats wrong with building a 2110, from the block you have? IT will go QUICK....But it will cost a bit too...

it will cost just as much as the rebuild of that damn kombi 2ltr........

catch 22

i'm gonna agree with unity, you've got the advantage of having time! something most people don't have when planning a re-build.... save up and do it right first time :thumb

im doing it right my uncles a licenced panel-beater and ive got all the shit for the restoraton like i said im almost done

Unity-28 - December 8th, 2003 at 01:16 PM

And then your going to spoil it and put a Dirty old 2l in it that might blow after a week....Didnt you say your dad works at j&f motors in Richmond? He should be able to do a rebuilt cheaper than others anyway.... This is just my opinion though, Im sure there will be others out there disagreeing with me....

Dom

putting a 2L Type 4 in a Type 3 "can" be done but dont think it is easy.

Here are 3 sites to read.
Especially the last one. It is Tom Notch's site on his Type 4 powered Type 3

Easiest way is to just put it in the boot and close the lid.

It won't go any better than a stock one. In fact, with the extra weight, it will almost definitely be slower!!

:D:D:D

typ-fre - December 8th, 2003 at 02:45 PM

but i dont wanna stock 1600 i wanna 2000 it just sounds better it does give more power to the wheels

Bizarre - December 8th, 2003 at 02:52 PM

the 2L type 4 did 70 compared to the 1600 T1 which did 60 horses.

It is more the torque you will notice. The type 4 conversion is a good thing to do - just dont be fooled in thinking it is easy. An exhaust for one on a Type 3 will really test both u and the bank ballance.

Unless u can really weld and design exhaust systems i think it would be cheaper buying a water front house on Sydney Harbour :cry

Dude, I know it’s been said that you have time and you do but try to get the thing going just before you get your license so you aren’t tempted to take the thing out for a splat and get your self into too much trouble. As for the engine change over if you are only getting 10HP it’s not really worth it, but a 2L does sound better.
Good luck

:jesus

typ-fre - December 8th, 2003 at 03:12 PM

lol this doesnt help, ppl say ohh its badd but theirs good things to it soo its not getting ne were

Unity-28 - December 8th, 2003 at 03:18 PM

I just reckon the money your going to spend changing over and making it fit, you could use on the stocker and make it go better than a stock 2L anyway. Im no expert on this so I dont know, but Would the gearbox need changing?

typ-fre - December 8th, 2003 at 04:09 PM

im putting in all the running gear if i get this, yes motor + gear box
and also i wont be spending any money changing it over because my best friends dad is a professional welder and my dads mate works at a steel factory or sumfin like that :D
