the Porsche Type12

the first 3 prototype of the Porsche Type 12 was build in 1932 by Zündapp in Nürnberg, germany.
at the moment we have here in town a little exhibition about this first Volkswagen.

the story beginn in 1931, planed was also a version from 05/1932 with a round front hood
like the beetle, never build by Zündapp, the latest version was a Strom-Limousine, from 12/1932.

the car was equipped with a watercooled 5 zylinder radial engine in the rear,
porsche planed allready a aircooled Boxer engine, but Zündapp preferred the other way.

less money at this time and many problems with the watercooled engines in the rear
signified the soon end of the project.
