road toll

Interesting how VICs with the toughest speeding laws in the country have the highest road toll (so far). Would be nice if they moved the speeding tolerance back to a realistic level but I guess it has more chance of going to zero tolerance.

I guess it is not as bad as the NSW government taking revenue from speeding in school zones even when the schools are private and finished 2 weeks before public.

Yes , But it isn't a revenue raising scheme is it, it's just to keep those children safe.

I've always loved this arguement.

Parking cops are revenue raisers, not much else. If a car aint in motion, it's not endangering anybody.

As for a vehicle IN MOTION

A school zone in NSW has a sign roughly half the size of a box trailer. This sign tells you your in a school zone, what times you need to adjust your speed & the speed.
Speed cameras also have plenty of signs to let you know they are there, as do stationary radar units & red light cameras.
There are signs everywhere to tell you what speed your supposed to be doing on any given road & the speedo is the largest (stock) guage in any car, so even mobile radar is not a trap.

How can it be seen as revenue raising if people ignore ALL of this & get done anyway??
That is people volunteering to top up state coffers.

If you get booked through your own apathy, don't be looking for sympathy from me............

Yeh I must admit as much as I hate being booked it is the drivers own fault (usually). WE know the rules and as much fun as it was to drive in Germany on the freeways at 180 and pass the cops (sometimes) it will not happen here.
I do think however the people who do not go back into the slower lanes after passing should be made to pull over and be fined and then wait for 2 hours before they are alowed to go agian,

Yeh but could you stay on that speed for your entire trip??????? We also cracked some good top speeds but just to cruise at 180 for an entire trip was great even though most of the time the speed limit said 130 they did not seem to care:D

Sounds like you had a car like one I have taking up space in my driveway. Sticker inside glovebox gives recommended tyre pressures for cruising at 120mph (193kmh) with a full load (5 people):repuke
