install headliner?
cray - January 1st, 2004 at 11:33 AM

anyone know any places in the blacktown area that will install a headliner in my '68 beetle, and any rough idea of how much this will/should cost?

I've done 5 headliners myself over the years, it's really not that difficult at all, & people say they can't tell the difference between my job & a proffesionals.
I also always use a velour headliner, I've done a vinyl one once & it's really difficult.
The most difficult & time consuming part is hand stiching the pillar matterial to the existing rubber strip thats on the pillars, just get a big sewing needle from lindcraft, also get a few bags of wooden pegs while u are there to hold the headliner & glue to all the window frames & thats pretty much all u need. U also have the satisfaction of saying u did your own headliner, whilst saving yourself some bucks

Your local motor trimmer should be able to do this

I've just done the vinyl lining on the 356, what a bloody nightmare. I had to fit it three times till I was happy with it then I glued it all. Then I had to remove the glue in some areas and stretch here or relax there till I was happy with it
