HEY ALL
AS YOUSE KNOW IM RESTORING MY TYPE 3
AND IM GONNA LOWER IT REALLY LOW AND I KNOW ITS gonna guard rub how do i narrow the beam???
dom
sorry you carnt do it as easy as a Beetle beam. dont know anyone who has done this except a mate in UK is hotting a Type 3 Ghia and he has cut the
floor front bulk head off the Type 3 pan and has fitted a Beetle bulkhead so he can narrow and lower the beam to suit the car.
Its a lot of work.
cant i just replace the suspention with a early beetle one???
dom
NO! Different set up! It shouldnt rub with 135's on it!, and with the right wheels!
N!
stockie chromes with big whitwalls???
What do you mean "big w/walls"? Do you mean the wide Factory type w/walls, or w/wall inserts, cause if you put inserts, you can put them on
135's, and on a 4.5 inch stock cromed wheel, they will be fine.
N!
the rims are gonna be orig
and i donno about the white walls
should i get inserts?
whats betta???
i just want wide w/walls
dom
the smallest Wide ww are 165's, they are what Ive got on my notch, and they do rub just b4 full lock.
N!
have u got a pic of you car??
dom
Yeah there are pics, but I dont have ww on my car, but I have 165's. I read my post, and relised that It sounded like I hade whites. Jim gows
car had ww inserts on 135's.
Look in readers rides under nellie the hot notch!
N!

dom

dom
What wheels you gunna run??
In the other post you said silver BRMs?
I'm runnin inserts on 125's and they bubble out a little but they look fine!
later on when i get the money im gonna put brm's
but for now ive got stockies
dom
I like the stockies!!
Keepin it OG!!:P
PS: you can take the OG either way I don't mind!
How can you have a disussion like this without inviting me? :P
Dom, if you wanna slam it, I would recommend keeping the wide 5 Type 3 rims, and running 135's. I have made the mistake of changing the rims into
Beetle rims, so I can run Beetle caps, but the Beetle rims has a different offset to Type 3 rims, pushing them outward towards the guard, making them
easier to rub.. bad vibes. 34 point turns everywhere..
135's probably won't pass a RWC as they are thinner than factory size. Put em on later.
The whitewalls are inserts, but there is more than just one type of whitewalls.. Mine are wide, but not the widest I think. Anyway, Atlas
whitewalls are 1 1/2 inch I think.. maybe 1 3/4. The ones on Nellie are wider, and are available from Johns Hot Rod & Custom. I recommend using
tubes when running flaps(whitewalls) as the air can seep from around the seam of where the flap is pressed against the rim.
