Anyone with a pic of an Iris Blue Beetle?....OK any 50's Blue
jenz58 - January 8th, 2004 at 08:20 PM

Well I think Iris Blue is the colour I'm after for Bel....the book which has the pic of a beetle in colour I really liked told everything about the car except for the colour....frustrating

Looking at VW colour chips, of the era, online 'Iris Blue' looks the closest

Damn I've been looking everywhere online to find a pic but no luck.:(

Help!!!!! Please!!!:kiss

don' t know if its the colour you are after but according to the website below the colour is "Iris Blue" and it is from Beetle Cabrios up to 1956. The colour code is L232. The website does not have samples of the colours... only the codes.

Hey Jenz
Why dont ya get a birth certificate from the factory for Belle, it should have the original colour on the certificate.
Rob......

Rob, im not trying to hijack the post as Jen may have the same question. how do you get the certificat as i was thinking of getting for my bus?

jenz58 - January 9th, 2004 at 08:36 AM

Her original colour is Beige...I don't want that...

Thanks Astro Boy...that's the site I go to to look at colours, thing is it doesn't quite look the same colour as the beetle in the book...but it's the closest which makes me think it might be it..

The colour I'm interested in is on page 20 of Nigel Grimshaws book 'The Volkswagen Beetle: Vintage, Restored, Customised and New'

I saw this book on sale outside a newsagency the other day...it's a good book so look out for it. I bought mine on sale at the Technical Book Shop last year.

Jen,

This is one of my favourite colours for an early beetle. I am thinking of doing my cabrio in the colour. Here is a picture of a friend in Singapore that has an Iris blue Karmann cabrio.

I can find out the paint code for you. Its from a mid 50's oval era.

Matara, that is a beautiful colour!

twoguns - January 10th, 2004 at 08:14 AM

??? are both those colours 'base' colours? ie not metalic.

jenz58 - January 12th, 2004 at 08:12 AM

The one I like is non-metalic

Matara it is a very nice colour and not one you see a lot of:cool::thumb

Bel has been dropped off and I'm about to take to ragtop clip down now....I'll take my book, Ingid will have her colour chips out ready for me:)

It's all about to start:bounce:bounce

jenz58 - January 12th, 2004 at 10:08 PM

I'm just not sure it's the colour I'm after.....I'll have to scan the pioc out of the book...but then colours in books aren't always accurate

Ingid doesn't think the pic/colour I like in the book is a VW colour:jesus

jenz58 - January 13th, 2004 at 10:11 PM

I'm beginning to think the beetle I liked in the pic was Gulf Blue cos I looked in another book and there was one that seems the same colour and they say Gulf Blue...??

I've seen Gulf Blue on Kombi's and I like it...but it looked paler in these pics...or different on a beetle...????

OK next club meeting I'll bring my books....anyone what to have a look and tell me what colour they think it is?:jesus

OK, post me pics of all the 50's blues you've got:thumb
