The last pair I bought from Keith For Wheels here in Brissy (07) 3841 6244).

That was about 6 months ago though. They were the Michelin XZX 145/15's.

145's are OK, but if you really want front runners, michelin 125s are the way to go, my son just bought some from Bob Jane T-marts at about $90 each.

IMHO - I don't believe these small section tyres should be used on the front of VWs...
155 x 15 should be MINIMUM.....
Remember Most of the braking is done by the FRONT tyres.....:o

145s are kool 125s would look real kool,I dont car about performance its looks that matter. My Dad keeps telling me to put 165s on the front but they look shit.

Im strugling to find these as well!!! I really am not able to find anything smaller than 155, and they are way to big for the front of a bug, especially when you have 4.5 inch fuchs for it!!!! Where can I even get 125/135 in Melbourne!?? Antique tires gets them, but there is a huge wait for them!!!!

Cheers! N!

Yeh I will have to go for 135 but like mentioned have to wait to after Chrisy and I wanted em on whitewalled by Don before Chrisy for some Summertime roll.
But like all good things ...Maybe its Karma for that Hazet toolbox I told this old guy was worth nothing and got for 20 bucks:jesus

I believe you're stuck with the 135s unless you want to spend money. With all the regulations on everything auto, it seems, amazingly enough, there are no restrictions or standards for the quality of tyres, only size - so you could import anything from anywhere!

P.S. Please don't mention this to the government; they're sure to come up with some ridiculous new regulations that will outlaw just about anything.

That's a shame.

Before I converted to porsche pattern I used t o run empi sprint stars. 145 xzx on the front and 165 on the back. I thought the grip of these tyres far exceeded what I'd expected. My racing suspension set up worked they tyres pretty good but they were excellent. They seem to really suit a beetle perfectly. On the way back from the Grafton Hillclimb I decided to avoid the traffic jam on the freeway and I took the old pacific hwy. I had a ball passing bmws and mercedes on the overtaking sections and watching them struggling to keep up. Sure my enthusiasm for driving and the suspension work helped but those skinny tyres were great and they never squeeled once.
