If only these were a gift from santa, none the less they are worth it!

My new 17x7.5 Turbo Twist replicas have arrived. Here are a couple of pics.

Sweet :thumb

You say they are replicas - who made them??

Are they 7's all round???

What size rubber will cover them???

Dasdubber - January 16th, 2004 at 07:54 PM

Hmmm, good question re. maker. I initially thought they were made by Miglia (spelling?) but can't find any stamping on the wheels other than Made in Italy.

They are 17x7.5 all round all with ET52. Haven't decided on rubber for sure just yet. Wanted to do some mock up of suspension/body clearances etc first. At this stage 205/40 fronts and 215/40 for rear. But maybe 215/40 all round....short answer...don't know yet!:(

they do look very smooth:cool:are they going on your grey n white or something else?

Dasdubber - January 16th, 2004 at 08:16 PM

Going on the new (well not so new) project - see members ride section.

I sold the grey/white 76 logo'd beetle last year (more than 6 months ago). I've been vw-less since (drivable anyway) - I have 3 projects but none on the road just yet! Stay tuned for a 68 bodied beetle (not sure on pan yet) that will be for sale some time this year. Smooth smooth body in dark blue (already painted thanks to a mate's hard work), one piece windows, euro bug slotted wide 5 wheels (widened at the back) with 145 and 205s maybe whitewalls....this is sounding like a for sale ad (will have to recoup the cost for the current project somehow!). :P

Looks sweet mate :thumb
Not going IRS?

matara - January 16th, 2004 at 11:09 PM

Can you tell me what brake setup you are using. I have the same wheels going on my cabrio project, along with 944 brakes.

Cheers

Steve

G'day Matara,

I think your wheels may be slightly different - are they boxster wheels? The spokes look like they have more of a kick in towards the car where they meet the rim.

Not that it matters....I am using CB performance disc brakes all round. Ball joint beam up front (with dropped spindles) and swing axle rear (short axles) - with rotohubs (so I can have a parking brake).

I was going to go IRS but originally I brought in a heavy duty side plate and super diff for the swinger box so I have just stuck with it since. Also I was going to go with the Fuchs hence went with short axles for clearance, but if I knew I was going to go 17in I would have gone long axles....thats what you get for changing your mind half way through!
