Type 3 buying advice
Amsterdamned - January 30th, 2004 at 10:03 AM

Hey all. Been a longtime Golf/Jetta owner but am making my first foray into the classic VW scene. I'm interested in getting a Type 3 and will be checking one out in Sydney this weekend.

Can anyone advise what I need to look out for? Obviously rust is a big factor but which bits? Any other advice?

Thanks all and be seeing you round!

Rust and paint cause there probally the most costly things to get repaired

Welcome to Type 3s! Another place to look is top of the front guards, seen a lot bubbling there.

Nice one. Cheers for the advice.

How do they hold up in traffic? Are they a useable daily ride?

Yes. I have been driving mine everyday for 3 years! I too came from a golf, dont regret it one bit...

Another spot to check is the floor, in particular under where the battery sits.

Type 3's only came in 2 door, unless you were just mentioning any 4 door?
