I am looking at trying to get my bug on club plates .First I dont belong to a club that has this
how do I do this and does the car have to be as it came out of the factory ?

how many $ do you save doing this ?

I will not be driving the car often so I am trying to save a $

what are the set backs to doing this ?

Join a reg'd club
Contact main roads and they'll give you all the info.
Different states may have different rules.

mate. in nsw club rego'd cars can only be driven on club sanctioned runs. ie to and from an event. or you can take it on a service run. but this is all you can do. you cant go get milk. if you go out when unauthorised and with out notifying anyone, you go out un insured and unregistered. i fyou have a standard look vw you can join a club that has a vintage register and they will look at your car and say yes or no.

Join the VW Club of WA they may be able to help you out. All state rules are different so dont take any notice of what rules apply over here.
