Hi Everyone,
VMA is looking for a freelance artist to provide comic and illustration work for each issue. This position is being advertised through a variety of
media, and this forum has been included for aspiring artists to also have their chance.
The freelance position requires an artist proficient in design and illustration, with accomplished skills in structure and form, and the ability to
apply these skills to a variety of styles. This will range from caricature through to panel comic strips. And specifically for this magazine, I also
need an artist who can draw any model Volkswagen technically accurate. As an example, please refer to artists such as George Trosley who regularly
drew for VW Trends in the eighties. He was good - I'm looking for similar.
To help in shortlisting artists for this position, I would like prospective candidates to submit a full colour A4 illustration as a tiff file for the
following scenario:
"A highly modified Beetle drag car has 'shat' itself a few feet after the start line. There are bits of gearbox and engine scattered
behind, and plenty of oil and smouldering engine bay. The driver is already out of the car looking at his timeslip and gesturing to an unimpressed pit
crew member. The caption is ..well at least I've improved my reaction time!?"
Please email your drawing to editor@vma.net.au.
Include your contact details. The closing date is February 27th, after which I will be inviting prospective artists for this position to an interview
to show their portfolio and other art.
Best of luck.
Cheers
