WSID GREAT STUFF
waltermitty - February 8th, 2004 at 07:38 PM

poped out on Saturday for the drags man was that great.
The new venue is world class and apart from the blistering heat the day/night was fantastic. went to the end of the mate for the second heat of the topfuelers to watch them hit 300 MPH then release the shoots and brake. Mate awsome.
Dave I got your email when I got home so obviously couldnt ring I saw your car (i think VINTAGE VEE DUBB sponsored very smick) but no sign of you guess you were rehydrating with a crownie somewhere , you must get there earlier next time to get a better park off the dirt and next door to say Jim Reed or Victa Bray on the tarmac.
Man that blond dressed in full leathers you had to direct you car was something though, must have been a little hot with 54 degree racetreck temp (the sensor gave up it got that hot).
LOL :cool:M ITChwll

And to all those who Wolf whistled at me when I was fixing the timing lights sat avo, well boy was that embarrassing.
That blasted ute took off just before I got there & it had some gear I needed to fix the marker- hey but good exercise- must have lost a Kilo.
But next time dont whistle - I go all red but then again you probably wouldnt notice.
------------------------------
What top entertainment,
I got to stand between two Top Fuellers,
down at the water trap when they Launched....un-bel-ievable..............
the sound - shock wave just hits you all over. But you actually get more effect when standing up on the hill in the crowd near the 60 foot mark. Of course hearing
protection is required, what did you say?
Next week - Sat day/ night Drag Combat.
Will be at least one supercharged Oval running , hopefully more.
Hope it is not so Hot weather.

Andy42 - February 10th, 2004 at 07:38 PM

So how is the track not making any tyre shudder like willowbank does so much now. But Willobank still is a top track:D

OvalGlen - February 10th, 2004 at 07:43 PM

and then there was the pits!

OvalGlen - February 10th, 2004 at 07:45 PM

we only got about half way down so did not get pic of the Drag Beetle.
Hopefully Dave and Pete have some.

OvalGlen - February 12th, 2004 at 06:07 PM

wed street drags - no VW's , but that is probably cause they are smart - It Rained.!
(and boy did I get wet putting away the Christmas Tree.)

OvalGlen - February 12th, 2004 at 06:35 PM

Andy's question about the track - track is good but probably still needs more rubber.
it was a bit hot to see " fantastic traction "
but a Top Fuel pass of 4.7 sec , 4.9 , and consistent 5.0 's 5.1 's 5.3's means it must be alright.
If we are to see world record times then this is the track ,
and certainly no doubt that Willowbank is a Great Track and the team that run it are excellent - they came down on the weekend to help wherever we needed it.
(also WA , SA , & VIC offered help)
It was so good to Have Ray Box - organiser of the Jamboree Drag event say Hello.

speedster356 - February 12th, 2004 at 08:32 PM

Will you be there in the weekend for "drag combat"?
what day is it?

HotRodMatt - February 13th, 2004 at 07:25 AM

speedster356 - February 13th, 2004 at 09:21 AM

You'll be with CBB?

HotRodMatt - February 13th, 2004 at 09:34 AM

Yeah Pete, come stick your head against the window of the VIP box... LOL

lohoon - February 13th, 2004 at 10:28 AM

I stayed at a mates place over the weekend who does the top end on the Cowan/Rocket industrys top fueler and had a blast!
After they broke the 5 second mark so quick I was hoping for a 500klm pass!
Came sooo close.309mph or 499klm was very impressive! We were sunburned, defened and covered in pieces of shredded tyres, but still had a blast.
Managed to score corperate box seats for sunday in the Steve Reed 'start ya bastard' camp.I (as usual) put my foot in when he lost his race.I suggested that they try marketing a new product as his car started allright.I suggestd they make a product called 'go faster ya bastard'.It went down like.....well you know.
Great weekend though! I think im addicted to nitromethane!

OvalGlen - February 15th, 2004 at 08:34 PM

Ok , so I'm used to methanol and Love it.
Had my First DOSE of Nitro Methane beside a top Fueller - certainly took my breath away.
eyes watering, nose burning, throat burning " unable to breath" but when they fired up I didnt care.! . just want more.

HotRodMatt - February 17th, 2004 at 10:45 AM
