Following discussions with Volkswagen Group Australia (VGA) head office in Sydney, Volkswagen Magazine Australia will now be called VW Magazine
Australia. VGA were informed of my magazine intentions since last October, including the proposed title, however, via a personal phone call advised me
that they had decided to withhold the use of the trademarked word VOLKSWAGEN. VGA have apologised for their late notice, and have given me written
approval to now use the title VW Magazine Australia (VWMA).
Although it would have been better if this matter had been resolved before the first issue, the magazine will continue to build on its successful
debut. There will be a banner change, incorporating a large VW across the top with Magazine Australia written in smaller font underneath. I'll
post a copy of the mock-up soon.
My relationship with VGA is strong and I look forward to their continued support of VW Magazine Australia. Please spread the word about the changes.
and when the proposed new magazine title design is posted let everyone know what to look for. The last couple of weeks have been eventful and the
flood of positive responses coming in from the first issue have paved a bright future for VWMA.

ps If you had not realised, this now makes the first issue a collectors item. There's always a silver lining.
heh heh heh

LOVED the first issue!
Logo and brand hysteria!
Top job on the mag Craig, cant wait for the next copy!
Rob...
Dont worry we will still buy it.
So I suppose that first and only edition of VMA has just become a true collector's edition!!!
:thumb
Not really bothered what it is called..
At last we have a very, very good mag about home grown vehicles.
Keep up the very good work.
Cheers

The Magazine was a great read that catered well for all Vee Dubbers.
Great to see the localbuisnesses supporting the Mag. No doubt the next issue will be just as successful.
Congratulations!:thumb
I stumbled across the mag' the other day. Quality piece of work, Craig. Keep up the great work :thumb

Wonder if this may have any implications for VW clubs? Will VWA not let clubs use the work Volkswagen
But the Builder\maker of the car is Volkswagen
what about all the other car mags that use the name of the make of the car eg:ford, holden, commodore etc.
What a mob of Idiots
Since been reading volksworld (english mag), this one's just as good. Just wondering for instance if someone has a car worthy of been presented in the mag, how would one let the editor know of such a car? Just wondering as in the future (the next six months) I'm sure they might want to take a gander at the beetle in my shed (even though it is not an oval (or anything special)) it may turn SOME heads...maybe???????????
I'll be interested to see what kind of abuse I get from that
No abuse from me buzz
The editor reads the forum so why not post a picture and ask if he would like you to write something (He seems like a very nice chap)
mmm. VolksMag Australia would have sounded pretty cool too!
Volks is also a trademarked term.
You would need written permission to use this as well. Although this would have been a similar process to what I have done with VW Magazine Australia,
it would have been too removed from my initial title and hence more confusing for those looking at the newstand.
I appreciate the suggestion though. I'm always open to new and fresh ideas and concepts

Hi
When Club VeeDub was started in 1984 it was called Club VW, we could not register to the name Club VW when we later incorperated the club. I think VGA
have been very fair considering what happened recently with VW USA running around suing VW sites left, right & centre.
