This genuine photo of a VW type 30 sold recently in Europe for 158 EUROS approx $158Aus.... A copy would have done Me..:o
How could they sell it if its a prototype? I think thats a picture of when they were testing the cars reliabilaty and so forth. No beetles were sold until after the war. And those type 30s were all destroyed after the final design was finished.
I think Lee means that the photo sold.

Ur mate, its a rip off! The car in the photograph is not a Volkswagen prototype but a much more common hanomag 1300. We actually sent an email
warning but got no reply. It is frustrating how many enthusiasts get confused about the Volkswagen prototype history.

Initially we were also confused about the car. My brother always had a hunch that it was something else and after a half an hours research we
recognised it as the Hanomag. The reason for this is because we are publishing a serious book on the prototypes, and already have literally hundreds
(500+) of pictures in our archives. These are only digital copies though.

It's a real rip off too because 158 Euros is more like $300 AUD... Maybe it's worth it though if there are none of these cars left. At least there's a photo

Like VW30 said, it looks like a Hanomag. There was one in the May Volksworld mag.

In that case not only is the photo a rip-off but so is the car. I could track one down, take some B&W photos, rub 'em in the dirt and sell them for a fortune. Anyone want a photo of a Hanomag?? Wonder if there's an aussiehanomagers.com site? I could post my photos...
There's always some scum, trying to take advantage of the unwary,
Rob........
