That 77 microbus

Hey! Overall do you guys and gals think if this 77
microbus is well serviced and mantained it will get me to Caringbah and back to Camden everyday no probs its about 1 hour each way but pretty flat smooth 110 kms per deal

You said before it was going to be a work vehicle.

What sort of weight are you going to be carrying???

I wouldnt count on the 110km/hr too much - especially if you want economy and longevity.
More like 95 - 100 km/hr
Invest in some elephant ears and one of those bolt on oil coolers

Do you mean it is a 220 km daily return journey? That's 53000 km/year for a 5 day week, 48 week year.

I wouldn't chose any older vehicle for that sort of distance.

A kombi will cost up to $5000/annum more in fuel alone for that distance vs. an efficient, small, 3 or 4 cylinder. The kombi wiould pollute much more, have a *much* higher routine maintenance cost (10 oil changes/year vs. 3 for a new car) and, if it's 100+ kph commuting, be far less pleasant to drive. Add to that the exposure to accident damage and general wear and tear....

Of course, I might be misunderstanding what you've said; that wouldn't be impossible.

think the only problem you might encounter at 110km/h is heat exhaustion to your engine....in summer months. Especially from air cooled engine. Better to travel that distance in a water cooled...by a late model t3 bus, still vw pretty cheap and water cooled.

if you want to run at 110km/h your going to be doing around 4000-5000 rpm which isnt healthy for any engine for long periods!
