levuka is an un0official sanctuary but is in reality a privately owned cattle farm. the owners have neen operating this as a 4wd and camping
recreation park for 10 yeaRs and it is a great spot to get away and to take the buggy.
Levuka is 16kms outside of WOODENBONG NSW which is close to RATHDOWNEY QLD and not too far from KYOLGLE NSW
Approx 21/2 hrs from Brisbane's southside.
Hi ducky,
Thanks for that, sounds great..I'll add it this evening.
You can also add recommendations on-line at the site, but we'll take 'em any way we can get 'em...
Thanks
Batemans Bay.
Its perfect if you have kids, esp at Christmas.
You can pitch your tent right up next to the sand. Meaning you can sit under the shade of the tent while your kids play and get burnt in the sand. Its
in the bay so there arent any rips to drag your heirs away. At Christmas time, right next door, is Bells Carnival. Some really good rides to scare
older kids, amuse the littleuns, a ferris wheel for the old farts AND best of all its $15 for unlimited rides. It doesnt get too crowded so no waiting
in long queues.
Theres enough to amuse you elsewhere too. Jet ski hire, putt putt, a decent shopping centre.
I've often thought it would be a good thing for a VW event. Club VW had an inaugral annual camping event a while back but didnt seem to happen
after that. It was pretty well attended too.
Redcliff is a camping ground in the Yuragir National Park in northern NSW. You camp on the cliff (about 5m high) overlooking the beach. There's
kangaroos and other wildlife everywhere and there's heaps of free firewood
.
SURF: The surf can get ok if the winds offshore but it's just a beachie. It's just north of Broome (?) Head which I've never been to
but I imagine there might be a point wave there.
COST: You have to pay about $5/10 a person per night and there's a $20 annual car permit (unless you wake up and leave early enough before the
ranger gets there, which I personally would not condone
).
GETTING THERE: Take the Maclean exit off the Pac Highway just north of Grafton. There's a right hand turn about a kilometer up the exit with a
sign to Broome Head (I think, haven't been there for a while). About 20km down is the spot, there's also a lake there which I think is
signposted, if Redcliff isn't.
TIPS: Best out of holiday times so you can get the prime spots...

Unfortunately no more open fires.
I'm taking my mum to Batemans Bay again , shes over for a visit from the UK in April. Place is great but you do need to take either a partner ,
some kids or alot of vw mags and pub money!!!

Many thx...
It's building faster than I'd dreamt; I'll have to add some sort and search functionality pretty damn soon....
Hi
My favourite is Coolendel, west of Nowra, find the tip and keep heading west, the roads a bit rough but my old Audi did the trip many times. It has
some very nice gentle rapids and lots of wild life.

Thanks for all the input to date...
There must be others with a favourite camping site to recommend, which you can do online at:
