ive heard superbugs hav 10mm shifter knobs, does anyone know wat else does?
bump
think most jap stuff does, sigmas, galants, nissans etc... i'd just wander around berro spares or clyde st spares and check a few cars...
thanks mate but i meant wat other VWs hav 10mm, did 60s hav 8mm shifters?
You mean what year model car had a 10mm Gear shift knob ..... nothing to do with the gear box...
Pre 61 cars had the bigger size gear shifter, and most of these had a split case gearbox.
well considering alot of cars have different gearboxes in them, eg. my oval has a superbug box, i was asking about the boxes themselves.
i hav a gear knob that is 10mm and want to know wat shifters it will fit on, or can i just change the shifters, r they interchangeable?
I'll tell you later I'm just going outside to pull 69out and put it into a 63. Well a 63 has a slot for the pin in the gear shifter to fit
into and a 69 doesn't so it doesn't work. Do you just want to put a new knob on?

Sam you have lost me
please start again from the beginning
what is it you want to do.???
what year is the car and chassis and what gearbox do you have etc etc ??
the early beetles had a small tapered gearlever , probably about 8mm... at the top..
in Beetles... the gearlever went straight in 1968.. could be 10mm..
Maybe type 3s had a 10mm gearlever...

sorry to confuse.
i want to know wat a 10mm shift knob will fit on, wat gear stick/gear box.
hope this is understandable...
The knob will fit on a pre 61 Beetle both Bent and straight 55 n earlier sticks.
After 61 they went to the small bent gear stick with the 8mm thread
Type 3s also had the bigger gear shift 10mm thread. The bent gear sticks have to have the correct gear shift rod in the tunnel with a cut out atthe
front so the pin fits into it.
As i said before the gear stick has nothing to do with the gear shifter.
Whats the shape of the knob you have ??
