Calling all Western Sydney -Cruise time for you!
Dannyboy - March 14th, 2004 at 03:59 PM

Off the back of the previous Stdney cruise post a venue is required for West Sydney as is someone to help push it! Here's the plan , he says again!

There seems to be alot of you guys and girls out in the west and as the North shore and the East aren't exactly close a venue is needed so we can meet you all. As with Cen Park and the North shore it needs to be a place with space , good for all the family , parking etc etc. Ideally no more than a 30-40 min drive from Sydney , so not too far out. What are your thoughts and ideas.

Also is there any one that will help promote the meet for the West. You have to be a VW freak and willing to shamelessly promote the Cruises at any given opprtunity! Also work with me and the North shore to support eachother.

The idea is to link all these cruises , share the same ideals and have lots of fun! :D

HotRodMatt - March 14th, 2004 at 04:23 PM

I was doing this a while back...
see: http://www.aussieveedubbers.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=6760

Did a few runs, Krispy kreme, Drive In, and a weekender at Kangaroo Valley. Went off good.

Had to stop organising them cause of little Jack's arrival. Went on a spur of th emoment cruise today with a friend so more is required.

And now I don't have club commitments (!) we will be more free to go to events with others.

Dannyboy - March 14th, 2004 at 05:21 PM

So you know what your doing then! Brilliant ! I love the whole concept of a cruise in , a general meeting point for us VW's. Just hanging about , chatting crap etc.

Once a place is found out West dates etc can be sorted and we can get things rolling. A place may have already been found as a trial but i wanted to hear from you guys on the western side of Sydney first. See what interest there is over the next few days and we can go from there.

I just think that having these different venues and it being monthly it could appeal to alot of us on the forum etc. Good aswell to see cars that are mostly daily drivers , allsorts turning up!

type_one - March 14th, 2004 at 05:56 PM

My self and Type3kid have orgainsed a few things but nobody ever turns up. The only person that ever turned up was KOM123 (Scott from Blacktown). I am at Riverstone and type3kid (Aaron) is at Box Hill. Wrecker67 (Craig is at Riverstone as well). Me, Craig and Aaron catch up a fair bit. In fact we are our own unofficial club. :D. Criteria to join is an interest/obsession with vw's and to be an all round nice person. Very hard criteria.

HotRodMatt - March 14th, 2004 at 06:27 PM

We've wanted to make the ones you've organised but always had other things we had to do... :(

buzzbug - March 14th, 2004 at 06:56 PM

hey Matt how about another Krispy Kreme run.
I could go a dozen or two of those donuts.
I might even bring my wife so she can have some this time, instead of me eating them on the way home.:D

Dannyboy - March 14th, 2004 at 07:41 PM

Well you can count on 3-4 from the Eastside for sure so that makes 7-8 cars already for the West cruise in. Guys we'll get there for sure.

buzzbug - March 14th, 2004 at 07:48 PM

If this gets off the ground can we make it a saturday night?
Last time i finished work and did the three hour trip straight up.
Would be nice to have a nice day in sydney before hand.:D

KOM123 - March 15th, 2004 at 01:06 AM

If the dates ok, I'll be there again for whatever is organised :)

type_one - March 15th, 2004 at 08:17 AM

Yes hotrodmatt. I know it's so hard at times when you organise these things as most people have lifes apart from VW's. Hard to believe but they do. I hate missing things becasue of other commitments. Usually makes the other commiment a lot less fun.

Dannyboy - March 15th, 2004 at 10:04 PM

Okay then guys how about this. As said before there's about 7-8 cars already.

To take on board peoples feedback in the next few days can you come up with a place that would be suitable for a Saturday late afternoon /evening cruise in location. As the Nats is around the corner maybe aim for Early /Mid May. Give everyone a chance to bolt on all their new goodies after the Nats!!

The requirements are obvious , heaps of room , etc . Would be nice to see folk from the North shore hooking up , folk from the Eastern Suburbs hooking up and all cruising over together. Make the cruise in's even more of a buzz.

A Saturday night may see alot more faces and could go off. As Kai has said , Cen Park could suit some , North shore suit others and a Sat night in the West could suit everyone in Sydney!!! Maybe:)

So all you out West get your thinking caps on and lets get something sorted between us and i'll get some future dates arranged and posted etc.

This is gonna be good!

type3kid - March 15th, 2004 at 10:14 PM

yeah mate count me in. may would be the best as befor nats i'm not sure if my car will be ready. i like the cruising idea, no club stuff just a fun cruise. however i think cruise rules/guidelines need to be set befor hand

Dannyboy - March 15th, 2004 at 10:36 PM

I understand what you say and agree totally . However i'm not here to make rules and guidelines , i'm a nobody just here to encourage people to have a good time. Those people that attend know how to behave /drive / act and also what we are trying to set up . If anyone fooks this up by being out of order we all lose and thats sad and totally against the whole spirit of things.

Anyway won't happen ! Be positive!

Oasis - March 16th, 2004 at 12:51 AM

As per usual, I'll be there if I don't have to work. Saturday night is the worst for me... but you can't please everyone...

Dannyboy - March 16th, 2004 at 02:38 PM

Have you checked out any of the Euro sites for the T4 stuff and ideas. A 2.3 would be a killer motor but you gonna have to spend abit on a box to match it! Your okay on brakes i reckon , 4 discs , lucky sod! I'm happy to help and learn if you need a hand , your not far away. Would be good to see you at the West cruise in . We'll have some dates sorted and posted by next week i hope.

wacked1 - March 16th, 2004 at 03:38 PM

I'm in as well!!!!

Dannyboy - March 16th, 2004 at 03:59 PM

Nice one! The West cruise -in will go off , just got a feeling. A Saturday night somewhere will be different. Just need a good location from you guys and to get as many dubs there as you can from the western suburbs. Ideally a drive in or similar so folk can crab a bite to eat etc and family friendly. I keep saying it but this will be a cool night for sure. It's what we make it! Danny:thumb

HotRodMatt - March 16th, 2004 at 04:14 PM

The Drive In movies always make a good night.... We usually get several cars when we organise a night....

Blacktown and Bass Hill

KOM123 - March 16th, 2004 at 09:30 PM

Danny:jesus

Dannyboy - March 27th, 2004 at 10:04 PM

Just a shameless reminder as we're all thinking of the Nats!

Danny:)

Lokita - March 30th, 2004 at 12:32 PM

I'm from Blacktown and am totally up for a cruise. Never been on a dub one before!

I'd have to agree with HotRodMatt. I've always wanted to do the dub run to the drive-ins.

sax - March 30th, 2004 at 01:42 PM

We could always meet at the Eastern Creek Tavern or somewhere near there.
I think the servo next door still sells cans of 100 octane...

Lokita - March 30th, 2004 at 01:48 PM

Wiseman's Ferry is always a nice drive. And the pub always has old cars and bikers out the front.

Only problem could be the steep uphill on the way home.

sax - March 30th, 2004 at 02:39 PM

Castle Hill showground perhaps?

They are always great nights. A row of buses up the back, backwards with cargo door open is a cool sight!

We go to heaps - even rod nights.

Dannyboy - March 30th, 2004 at 05:00 PM

It will be at the Drive in ( Blacktown) as agreed. 22nd May from 6 pm onwards.Don't know what film's on , maybe someone out there will help push for this cruise in and help with some info and organisation.

! Hint Hint get involved!!

Danny :):):)

Lokita - March 30th, 2004 at 05:26 PM

See you there!

Remind me closer to the date and I'll check times etc. I'm from Blacktown so I can drop by there if need be.

Dannyboy - March 30th, 2004 at 09:50 PM

Seriously this will be the biZ ! Just imagine that so-cal feeling , fast dubs , cuisy dubs , any dubs in a huge cruise-in , drive-in. It has the best of starts and really needs some local PR, cameras , video whatever!.Lets get into the local papers!!
After the Nats we will all be hyped so do whatever you can to turn up. These cruises are NOT anti clubs , just a lovely mix of dubbers meeting up! Any club is welcome so please . please show us your oil leak!
Cen Park really was a warm up and this HAS to be THE post Nats cruise in for those reasonably near by.
Enough from me , over to ..............................
