Mitsubishi Magna 1.. Container Van 0
silver - March 15th, 2004 at 05:35 PM

What a shit day! I ran up the back of a Magna when he stopped to reverse park. he made a last second decision to stop and park, I can't say whether he indicated or not it was one of those situations that just happened so fast, so as the law say's I am at fault....Any way I now have one very sad little Splitty with a smashed in nose and one eye busted ......If any one heard loud expletives this afternoon it was probably me, I am still cursing Magna drivers.........

Anyone got a splitty headlight lens? :cry

vanderaj - March 15th, 2004 at 05:48 PM

Doh!

I'm sorry, I don't have a lens or anything, but I'm just glad you're okay.

twoguns - March 15th, 2004 at 06:46 PM

silver. your not necessarily at fault.
there is also the rule of 'travelling against the flow of traffic'. it basically means that the other driver as he is going in reverse, also has to be aware and give way if needed.

follow this thru. i know as a relative had this same scenario...

robnjo - March 15th, 2004 at 07:04 PM

very sorry to hear that ...especialy one of the best looking splittys.
this one for you...:beer

matara - March 15th, 2004 at 07:10 PM

Hey Silver

Sorry to hear about that. I bet it was on Parramatta Road! I heard of a car running straight into the back of a parked Kombi on there!

George at Classic veedubs has a whole new front section for a split hanging on the wall of his workshop. Worth considering if your doing an insurance claim and the damage warrants it!

All the best

Steve

robnjo - March 15th, 2004 at 07:22 PM

hey what is a "new" front roughly worth??
and do many places have them?

david - March 15th, 2004 at 07:22 PM

might be time to get that disc brake front end while your there

1303Steve - March 15th, 2004 at 08:47 PM

Hi

I saw you at the lights today, must have been before the fateful event, very bad luck, at least you walked away.

silver - March 15th, 2004 at 09:01 PM

I just went outside and had another look at it :cry
It'is bad but could have been worse I stole the headlight from my beetle resto and stuck that on and it seems happier.....
.A thing happened while I was sitting in the gutter today at Petersham, the scene of the event. The other guy had long gone and the Van dropped a piece of glass, with out being bumped or anything,
I think it was crying. :cry

Anyway, I will be putting my beetle resto on it's new pan this week .so that will lift my spirits. :party

The old girls a solicitor and she says the same thing as twoguns, check into it you could get out of it.

twoguns - March 16th, 2004 at 06:14 PM

hey vwcool. its not, as for a car to reverse park, they have to travel against the flow of traffic. this means that they have to give consideration b4 moving. ie they can t just prop up and power back, or start to swing in with out thinking/looking.

silver - March 16th, 2004 at 07:37 PM

Hey Thanks vw0064.. there is a left and right lens the lenses have a piece which points toward the curb It may have L/R written on it
