My baby's cover got stolen ...

Make: 1959 Beetle Cal Looker..

Parked her in South Yarra Melbourne, the car park beside Jam Factory ... haven't install alarm yet, so I decide to cover my baby up with it's cover .... after movies, found out that the cover is off and gone ! Thank God she's all right with all windows clean and no scratches around her body !@!@!

Just a little stupid story to share with you all ...

don't ever cover your car up in public areas.

car cover is worth : $44.95 @ autobarn.. lol~

that pisses me off. Probablly dickheads who stole it and then hid it 50mtrs away.
Got nothing better to do with their time.

As long as its ok!!! Lucky they didn't do worse.
:cry

People steal the most stupid things !!!!! Someone stole the air valve thingymagigs (don't know what they are called !!!!!) off my tyres one time. I had mag wheels and the valve thingymagigs were chrome.

I hate thieves ! If I was in charge of punishment I would hang them all ! Along with people who are too lazy to put their shopping trolleys away and leave them sitting on my bumperbar !

I am glad that your baby is alright !

sad it got taken, but also a little sad you feel the need to tuck your car in at a carpark. :o

So whats next... ? Alarm as soon as possible! and a powerful one must be installed. After the cover is gone, I can feel how dangerous it can be anytime... I don't want my windows to be next !

Quoted Installation itself cost $190 without Central Locking Installation.
Alarm cost $3xx and another $80 for central lock ! too much, but I think this is a must, start saving it up today.

Anyone have a clue that if I can install central lock to my bug ?

Thanks !

Hey Babybug,

Did you install the 2 Way Alarm System with the LCD on your remote ? Are they reliable ? How much you got that for ?

Thanks!

Babybug - March 24th, 2004 at 05:57 PM

No I don't really have an allarm system I just wanted the guys to think that I did incase they intened to steal something, luckly I just walked out at the right time to catch them. Jodie

Great timing ! can't believe how stupid those ppl are, trying to steal stuff from our lovely VWs !

central locking is achievable. my suggestion is a kill switch or 2 cheap and reliable

Here's one for you! I have a disease in my back and sometimes use a wheelchair to get around. The falcon was parked in my driveway with the wheelchair on the hoist, on the roof. Came out next morning and looked at the car with the hoist sticking up in the air. Wondered what was going on so walked around the drivers side and here was the chair on the ground.

After investigating it seems that the wouldbe thieves decided to cut the hoist cord and take the chair. The only thing being it has 2 gigantic springs that allow the hoist to move back and forwards. Hoping (not) that the thief was standing well away as he cut the cord as he could have lost a leg, or arm if he was close when the cord was cut. The springs would have just let go and the arm sprung up hitting them. No dead bodies or body parts were found, so am assuming they left somehow. I am assuming they were hurt as the chair was still laying on the ground next to the car.

Had to fix the hoist, but now works well, but doesn't fit on the dub. If anyone knows of anyone wanting a wheelchair hoist, just send U2U.

Yes, I have some clues; visit:
http://www.aussiekombicampers.com/projects.shtml#top
and select "Alarm & Remote Central Locking".

By the time you're finished reading, you will consider $80 for Central Locking installation a life-time bargain.

Has any one been in a car park and heard a car alarm go off? What do you do? They are a waste of time!

ducky - March 24th, 2004 at 09:17 PM

still reckon a kill switch is the answer

ByronBug - March 24th, 2004 at 09:19 PM

:sandrine
well I guess I would rather have the car cover stolen than you bug...
You are very lucky indeed.

no ducky,
never refer those hidden switches and the linked high voltage wiring as kill switches or you'll get done for murder. call them theif disabling switches or similar.

ikube - March 24th, 2004 at 09:43 PM

Yes! As I said, Thank god that my car is still there !!and no scratches etc ....

Thanks for the link about the alarm and all the info :)

P.S : bought the cover for 3 days only .. lol~

Cheers~
