Well emailed , and talked on phone to fair tradeing.
Story goes like this, Fully recon motor from well know bribie island company, got motor back damaged,
1: No distributor drive
2: bent studs flat on carby manifold
3: pulled stud on head to carby manifold
4: missing bolt where pully for thermo cable goes( only noticed after oil pissed out everywhere
5: removed motor to fix bent and leaking filter flange
6: replaced old oil pump with new ( no oil pressure
and now the engine is about to come out to replace cracked head. Probibly from dropping the engine while shipping back to me 350k away.
Was offered $125 fair trading said I should take it didn't want to, but phoned him and accepted, got abused on the phone and haven't received anything for a month now.
Whats happened to real people these days, is money so important.
Life continues
:cry

you need to diy if you want it done properly. forget Fair Trading, just more bureaucrats. try Knee-Capping Inc for more satisfying results, or Smith, Wesson and Co for permanent solutions to problem

Thanks for the update. A bit poor on the payment side because of all you now have to fix. Did they give you an explanation why it was so little? Now that he hasn't paid, go back to the Department and complain that you haven't received anything and need the money to fix what is wrong.

The problem is that we go to VW people because they know our cars. Obviously we must be more choosy on who we deal with.

Was told that I didn't give him a chance to fix it, 350k away, damaged in transport, this is the second motor to be damaged, would you. Anyway I asked whether my man could pull it out and do it up here, he said yep to my man on the phone, one of those "he said I said things" He recons he could have replaced the oil filter flange in situ, with the left hand cooling flap screwed down, thats why the $125. But I would have to take it out send it down, not bloody likly. He conveniently forgot about all the rest.
So be WARNED. He's really brilliant until things go wrong, then it the old sponge and rock thing. So far it has cost me...$3200 and still trying to find out why she runs at 135d at 90k. replaced the manafold on the right last night, as rev's change when srayed,,just been for a run, no good thats why I think cracked head under manifold after droping...let you know what happens tomorrow, as its motor out new head, back in by 5
