i'm sure it's been done before, but:
1/ what style/type/genre (etc.) of music are you into?
2/ list 5 - 10 of your all time favourite bands/groups/artists (etc.)
3/ did any one album ever 'change your life forever'? if yes, what was the album..... (could be more than one here really)
4/ what's the last album you bought?
pretty simple really:thumb
my answers:
1/ i would loosely define it all as rock.....
2/ black sabbath, deep purple, nirvana, foo fighters, cake, pantera, QOTSA, jefferson airplane, jimmy hendrix...... the list goes on.....
3/ silverchair 'frogstomp', foo fighters first album, and deep purple 'in rock' .
4/ PROBOT. ('cos i'm a big fan of dave grohl)

1 - rock/metal/ska/hardcore
2 - Metallica, Sunk Lotto, Sounds Like Chicken, Alan Parson's Project, 12 Stones, Blindfold, Nancy Vandal, Living End, Reel Big Fish, Thirsty Merc
3- Living End's self titled introduced me to rock, Metallica's re-load introduced me to the power of lyrics (and self)
4 - last cd - Sunk Lotto's latest (cant remember the name), but just purchased Eve, Turn of a Firendly Card, and Eye in the Sky on vinyl by Alan
Parson's Project.

as for lastest CD purchase,, well I am saving up for the whole WING set!!!!
ROCK ON WING!
ok - this post has been up heaps before --- but its still a good one -- a good way to get to know your fellow forum devotees......
1. probably best defined as indie pop...but i like most things that are done well (except maybe r n b....cant take it..or ganster rap..argh)
2. fav bands-singers...erm...long list maybe....lets see...pavement, weezer, built to spill, have a massive dave grohl crush, erm, sekiden, you am i,
sonic youth, blur, avalanches, at the drive in, gerling, international noise conspiracy, lemonheads, beatles, supergrass, sigur ros, sugar cubes,
bjork, mum, sinead occoner, billie holiday, ella fitzgerald, crowded house, endless endless list...kinda diverse i like to think anyways...
3 albums that chnged my life??? hmmm. very distinct periods here.....childhood would have to be crowded house's woodface.....teenage probably
smashing pumpkins siamese dream and sonic youth experimental jet set trash and no star, post school...weezer blue album and pink triangle.....sugar
cubes fucking in rythm and sorrow......maybe early custard and regurgitator albums/eps because they awakened an interest in australian music.......and
again the list is endless
4 whats the last album i bought? hhmmm...i never spend money on cds....so last album was mum "finally we are no one" (icelandic band that toured
here late last year - beautiful atmosheric, weird music with unintelliable lyrics)
so there you go ----- probably not an entirely accurate or true list....but that will do for a start!
now go ahead ---- judge me!!!!!!
xxxxxxx thorun
I'm not ashamed to admit that I spent a lot of hours listening to things like Madonnas true blue album, LRB, james reyne, even samantha fox, while
lying on my Kmart boogie board down the beach. Then I stumbled upon INXS and flirted with them for a while. But then I watched video hits and saw
Billy Idol sing Mony Mony and the girl in the film clip (susan davis I think her name was) was hot hot HOT so I bought all his albums and was hooked.
The first concert I ever saw was Billy at the Ent Cent in Sydney.
But then I met ACDC and lived breathed slept them, bought all their albums. Dumped a girlfriend cos she said george michael was better. Went to a
fancy dress blue light disco dressed as angus and won a michael jackson lp. Saw them at Ent Cent and got whip lash being a head banger. That was until
that blow up your video shit came out and dumped them like a stone.
Mates introduced me to midnight oil and so got all their albums and was in heaven again. Angels used to play a lot at local workers so got to like
them a bit. (saw them a few weeks back)
Met girl who took me to dingy pub to see Lime Spiders. Scared the crap out of me lol. She had the hugest boobs! Didnt last long, she dumped me rather
quickly.
Found hunters and collectors, hoodoo gurus, and violent femmes I was in ecstacy.
Now I am a music slut and I listen to anything all genres. A lot of country, folky stuff, but late night driving theres a christian station here that
plays non stop techno dance mixes. Just have to turn it over when the preach sessions happen. Spend a lot of time @ triple J even though I think a lot
of it is crap. Just give me anything that aint boyband, shannon noll, the other nasally boofhead guy, and I am pretty much happy.
Oh I went through a jenny morris faze somewhere along the line too. Got all her albums too.
TO name 5 bands plus inspirational album
Billy Idol
AC/DC
Angels - Beyond Salvation
Midnight Oil - 10 to 1
Hunters and Collectors - the Living double CD. Live. Mad.
Last CD bought: Evanescence
Would buy heaps more stuff if I had $$$
... music slut.

I even saw the Chantoozies live once hehehe.
lol - i went through a big Jenny Morris phase as well! jesus, had forgotten about her - think it was a New Zealander fest for a while....crowded
house, split endz, jeeny morris, dave dobyn.....kinda weird now i think about it....
maybe it had something to do with Footrot Flats comics...
but i was always really influenced by my older brothers and their taste.........one brother had a scary Ice House period....that was bad....and dj
jazzy jeff and the fresh prints...bad too .....but that led to beastie boys and run dmc.......
strange though - how you can hear a song and be transported.....back in time...back to a certain emotion....or a certain memory.....or a suburb and
your bmx......its kinda nice actually.

* Mainly rock music though i do like the chilled out ambient/soul stuff , depends on the mood
* The Who / Puddle of mud / Linkin Park / Fun Loving Criminals/ Faithless / Foo fighters / / Nirvana / Red Hot Chillys
* Being taken to a Motorhead concert when i was about 10 ! My big brother always used to take me top rock concerts when i was a kid. Seen AC/DC , The
Who , Deep Purple, Pink Floyd etc etc. All at a young age i may add! !!! Motorhead were the loudest band EVER , in the record books etc!
It was the 'Bomber" tour and they had this huge airplane that was hanging from the roof , lights , lazers going off etc. Along with the song Bomber
belting out mega loud i think it effected me forever. I can't hear very well ever since! I love loud music , gets me revved up !
* Jack Johnson . Ideal for those lazy w'ends reading the Sunday VW Mags
Saying all that i don't even have a stereo in my 67! Just the original 6v radio that doesn't work!
